Im 16 and I just got my first job (summer job). I'll make around 3500 without taxes, so that might be like 2900 with or so. I was just thinking of the parts I should get for my 98 eclipse RS. What do you guys think? Please add if I miss something!

1) AEM Intake
2) which exhaust from here would be majority recommended? Exhausts from DSM Tuners
3) Shift Kit for my A/T :)
4)Wheels and Rims (still looking for some I really like)
5) put my GSX wing on and paint it
6) Halo headlights

I think that might be good so far...I've price checked everything and I'll still come out with a little bit left to spend on whatever. Any advice//opinions would be appreciated!!

Please follow my advise. I speak from first hand experience when I say: dont waste your time with that crap. Take your 3 grand straight to Hahn . If you had 3 grand in one place at one time and spent it on that shit, :tease: , thta's be really really stupid. That is all.

i say this because I used to be a nonturbo guy, and I've said this to many other nonturbo guys... and they all eventually agreed.

nitrous or forced induction.

anyway, map out your goals and set a realistic ET you want to run. keep in mind your NT is a "16 second car"... and it will take major cash to have it running as fast as a stock turbo DSM.

if I were you, i'd just get new wheels/tires + RMDSM lip + Wing + lowering springs/shocks and call it a day.

I just want to say it is your car and your money. Do what you want to do to your car. Also, if you want opinions on what you should do let us know what you want to achieve. Another thing to keep in mind though is that you probably won't end up with the money that you plan to. You have to keep in mind buying gas, paying insurance, and any other expenses you have.

Well from an experienced N/T owner I must say it looks great doing all the stuff to the N/t until you get around to actually doing it IF you want a lil extra power go ahead and do the mods you listed. YOu can feel a little bit of difference Get an Underdrive pulley as well. But if you really want some power that you can feel go with the Turbo kit. Nitrous is a one time shot that you can't enjoy all the time plus do you really want to have to fill that bottle all the time? Secondly if you really want a faster car then go ahead and sell the N/t and buy a 1G Turbo (thats what I did) If you can have your parents "own the car" Then you won't get raped on the insurance being 16 (I'm 18 with 3 points). So it all comes down to your personal. I did what everyone told me because in the long run you can't beat the performance per dollar if you just go with an already turbo car. YOu already spent a couple grand on the N/T and now you'll spend another 3 grand on the turbo kit. Sell the car buy a 1G turbo and spend the 3 grand on more parts.

Well since this is my DD, I just want it to run to its max potential (being on a teenagers budget ><) and look nice. Yes, the parents own the car!! >< so its totally out of the question to sell and buy a GSX/T or 1g. I could go with the turbo as suggested, and have this really nice import place by my house install...I guess its just a matter of what I personally want now :) Thanks for the input guys!

My mods that I listed at the beginning of the thread would: make the car sound better, look better and run just a tad better

where as throwing all the money into a turbo would just make my baby run really fast :)

thanks again guys =]

wats up... LOL ur lucky u have a job to start modin ur car... im 16 too n im still lookin to find a job... good luck with wat ever u do  .....

You could easily find a 1g GSX for well under three grand, in your area. I had to pop $3200 for mine, but it was the best decision I'd ever made. (The 'hidden mods' that the prior owner didn't know about sure as hell sweetened the deal!) Keep the 2g as a DD, and have your parents register the 1g as a 'pleasure vehicle'. Less mileage, lower rates on insurance, even for them.

Just make sure you have a mechanic you can trust to take it to, get a compression and a leakdown run, look EVERYWHERE for oil and fluid leaks, and if you can, build a boost leak tester and check it so you know where you're starting from.

Personally, I put the 'go' before the show. What's the point in having a nice-looking car, if a beat-up POS AT Firebird (or worse yet, Sunfire) can beat you off the line and around the block?
