My beautiful on the outside but still a 27 year old Conquest has finally stopped running....was a daily for 2 years, had a short list of big problems and issues....no big mods, stock 12a. Had 2 blown HGs, 1st trans broke 2nd gear, new clutch a year ago...etc. I don't want to sink 1 to 2k into a total proper rebuild of the g54b with machine shop and all new pistons and such and thats just to get the short block up to near new condition. Then new head, head work, mpi ? bigger turbo ?......naaaa.....sorry die hard StarQuest guys but i'm getting on in years and my back is a mess from 30 years as a professional driver so....... We have a 99 GSX auto that was just an idea of a strong street car with maybe some amature strip action . That car was near done when I blew the trans on 1st test drive with the built 4g63 i bought running from T . So it sat parked for a year . Got into a 91 Mighty Max project, nearly done. My 95 VR4 runs perfect. 2 year project , daily now. So the Conquest is getting the 4g63 but i really really really want AOD trans in it. Been studying project 0 G for years... 42RE/44RE bolts right up to narrow block or a 700R with manual valve body (no tcu involved ?) using a Bill H or Bueshur adapter plate....expensive but having the motor all built and ready....i mean built too....T put alot of cash into it for his CRNKWLK Talon and it was making big #s on 85...I tuned it down for 93 add gm maf, Link V3, etc...runs strong.

I know this subject has been beat to death and i've read tons of data on it in many many forums....this will eventually turn into a build thread cause after the 1st car 7 years ago, I just stopped taking pictures and writing every step in a log....but this swap I promise you alls I will fully document with pictures and explanations, frustrations, sore fingers....empty beer cans...the usual stuff.[DOUBLEPOST=1415907303][/DOUBLEPOST]i just spent an hour on the phone with 2 trans shops in west fl. stage 2 "built" a500 with 44re internals, upgraded stronger everything, 2500 stall converter, manual valve body (no tcu needed) $1500 - 2K delivered to my door....takes about 10 days. not bad. i would much rather spend the money now on a truly well purpose built trans than waste the same amount on 2 or 3 junkyard stockers over next 2 or 3 years..... JY trans = 200 to 400 , torque converter (stock, not even custom built higher stall speed) 50 - 100, case or 2 of fluid, shift kit etc = 150 . just want a strong reliable daily driver that wont need AAA for a few months at least !

now I'm looking for a reversed intake already cut and welded or an expensive Forrester that I can buy new for alot of dinero.

My suggestion, just have the stock intake manifold modified. it wasn't all that much work to have someone weld a block off plate on the old TB flange, open the other side , weld an extension pipe to get the TB out a bit and another flange on that side. here's mine:
