Brake Rotors

Where's the cheapest place to buy aftermarket brake rotors and pads, something like powerslot or Brembo that are crossdrilled and slotted? (which ever one's best..crossdrilled and slotted or just 1)

I purchased actual brembo drilled rotors for my 2g. They were cheap if I recall it. A really good price for the front set. I think it was around $115. It was almost two years ago though, so dont quote me on that. Good luck man.

EBC greens pads are good, Hawk pads are good, also Akebono pads are great, it all depends on what you are willing to spend and how long you wanna wait on shipping time. Drilled rotors work great, there only down fall is they warp faster than others.

I have the hawk pads and would recommend them. There are a couple of threads on cross drilled/slotted rotors. Alot of people don't like them.

All I can say is that if you are planning on getting them, make sure that you get a name brand from a reputable company. I have heard of them cracking and even breaking and causing crashes.

I personally have brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors all around and have had them on for just over a year and have had no problems at all. But I still check them every time I rotate my tires or have them off for some other reason.

Thats a pretty cheap price. I don't know if you can find actual brembos for too much cheaper than that.

There was another thread on this about cross drilled and slotted rotors. Instead of re-typing it, i'll just quote what I said again.

It is unreasonable to say that every cross drilled rotor is unsafe, yet it's one of those things where why take the chance? Cross drilled rotors were developed in order to expel gasses quicker from earlier brake pad materials during heavy braking, known as "gassing out". With new materials in brake pads today, they don't expel nearly as much gas and contrary to popular belief, cross drilled don't actually lower temperatures, in fact by removing weight from the rotor, temperature is slightly increased and the holes create little stress risers that allow the rotor to crack sooner. Slotted on the other hand, helps keep pads clean over time cutting down on glazing. If the slots are shallow and cut properly (i.e. powerslots), then you get reliability with performance. Think about it, if cross-drilling was the way to go, NASCAR and F1 would be doing it, and they certainly need better braking than you or any of us do.

I upgraded my front rotors with powerslots and replaced my rears with brembo oem rotors since the front brakes will do most of your braking anyways. I used Axxis Metallic pads all around. I like my braking setup very much, the powerslots don't rust which is also very nice. Like diablos suggested, Hawk is also a very good line of brake pads. I would recommend either Axxis or Hawk. As far as your setup you'll be getting, I might recommend going with a performance rotor up front like I did and then just throwing on some oem ones in the rear and then make sure you get a good pad.

If you get Brembo rotors make sure you have every inch, other than the main surface, powder coated or something. They rust like crazy. I went through two sets and both started showing rust within a day or two of putting them on.

Yea they are cheap but I would think that a big name like Brembo would come coated already so their product wouldn't look like **** after slight use. You think they would take more pride in their product.

As far as pads I have Axxis Ultimates and the make rediculously amounts of brake dust. I couldn't tell you how they compare performance wise to others but if you have nice wheels you will be cleaning them daily.

I have powerslot front/rear. HAWK ceramic pads. I love them. And with the ceramic very little brake dust. When I was researching to replace my brakes, I chose the slotted over CD or both. Like stated above if your not racing all the time you should not need the gas dispersion of the CD rotors. My brother is a mechanic, and he recommended the slotted vs cd. Because unless you get a very reputable brand and the cd's are chamffered the holes like to crack and split.

Actually, I meant get Powerslots up front. They are a seperate company from brembo and their rotors come slotted. They're the best rotors you can get slotted and they're the ones that also come with a protective coating that doesn't let the rotors rust. Now depending on how much money you have, you could either get oem brembo rotors on the rear or just go with powerslots on the rear as well. The reason I only did powerslots up front was because I was trying to save a little money and the price difference wasn't worth it to me to have slotted rotors in the back as well. See, most of the braking is done up front anyways and that is where you would want a better performing rotor, if you put powerslots in the back as well, it would help a little in your braking performance but it would be more of a cosmetic thing since they look nicer, won't rust. etc. My brembos in the back rusted a little around the middle the bumps out where the rim hits the rotor, but it's hardly noticeable.

All that said, my final suggestion would be:
Powerslots front - Brembo oem rotors rear - Hawk or Axxis Metallic pads all around

If you are willing to spend a little extra money
Powerslots all around - Hawk or Axxis Metallic pads all around

I forgot to mention, you can either get the Powerslots slotted and drilled or just slotted. Go with just the slotted ones, they're cheaper and there's no reason for you to pay the extra to have them drilled.
