i just turned 18 today and for my birthday i can get either a BOV or a Wastegate.
whats the difference between the two. i'm new to turbo cars and don't know much about wastegates.
what would you suggest i get? and what kind?

i have a '95 gsx witha stock t-25 turbo

You have no use for an upgraded wastegate now. If you must get a blow off valve, gett a 1g blow off valve and make sure to recirculate it. Otherwise, get an air intake / filter and exhaust.

Check out the upgrade paths for other worthwhile mods.

Edit: Happy birthday :thumb:

Get something more beneficial, like a 3" turbo-back exhaust IMO.

BOV or wastegate won't do much for you on the T-25.

The only advantage is the cost. You can modify the 1g bov by using either the Dodge Garage Mod or by crushing it to hold higher boost. They all do the same thing though.

Maintenance, logger, downpipe (w/ high flow cat or eliminate cat altogether), fuel pump, afpr, hard uicp.........

whats the advantage of a 1g bov over like a hks super sqv or a greddy bov?
Reliability.

There are 1G BOV's out there on cars with almost 200k on them still working perfectly.

You're lucky if a Greddy diaphragm lasts a year.

+1 my greddy type s was the biggest POS ever. Car ran way better with a stock 1g bov. Honestly get a downpipe and a 1g bov and your still cheaper then an hks bov......

How about updating your profile so we can see what you already have on the car, so we can help you out on whats next:)

I think this is the only site where you guys are nuts about having a profile updated. Granted i'm not saying you shouldn't i just saying it's like no other site

I think that the best thing for you to do is to WAIT. Take a look at the upgrade paths that were posted earlier, and read a lot! Don't buy anything until you have a power/time goal in mind then find out what you need to do to get there. Don't jump into anything until you know how it will benefit your end goal.

It just makes it so much easier to see what people have done to there car instead of trying to type everything out in a post. But I do know what you mean about all the posts where people say update your profile or fill it out so they can help you.

It makes sense to upgrade your profile. Eveyrtime someone asks a question about their car, I first look at their profile to get a general idea of what they have and where they are on their upgrade path. As for the suggestions for you, well, with a $500 budget, I'd do the maintenance.
