I have a 1997 eagle talon tsi fwd automatic. I just replaced the stock t25 with a 14b from my 1g. When i originally installed the turbo I ran it at 15 psi for about 3 days, the 4th day it droped down to 12psi then 10 psi and now 6psi over one week period. Im wondering if it could be the turbo going bad becasue i ran a boost leak test and went over all the intercooler pipes to make sure they were air tight.

If the only thing changed is the turbo then I would figure that too. You checked your work installing the 14b and found it all to be ok? The only other thing that changed was the turbo.

I have another wastegate that i swapped out also witch was working well on my other 1g. The install is good and i used all new washer, feed line, return lines, j pipe, and gaskets. I forgot to add that the car does not smoke.

is it steady at 6psi or does it start at 15psi and bleed down as you boost? I would find it odd that the turbo would work fine for 3 days then bite it. You should just to be safe pop off the intake and check the shaft play and let us know what you find.

Holds steady at 6psi and also when if was at 10psi,12psi, and 15psi. Ther is very little shaft play.

did you do a boost leak test proper or did you just check your couplers etc by hand? Because if the shaft play is normal I would put my money on a boost leak some where. Do you still have your 2g bov or did you change for a 1g?

I agree with minimal shaft play it would have to be a boost leak. What kind of boost controller are you running???

I tried 2 different 1s. Mannual boost control i picked from extreme psi cant remember the name, and the other electronic avc-r apexi. Same results from both.

yea that was my first thought so i pulled the connecting rod that connects to the flange and it was free so then i switched them over with the one off of my 1g thats in perfect working order and it didnt fix the problem i just ran out of options to try and fix it i had read on the formus that anyone that trys and use the stock lower intercooler pipe with the 2g install kit will have problems with it leaking but i had pressure tested it and there is no leaks i replaced all the vaccume lines eairlier today to ensure that they wernt leaking i dont know what it could be

Ok guys here the scoop. I said on monday i was going to swap the turbo back and before i did i decided to go to the store. On the way to the store i punched the gas and the boosted jumped to 15psi. Ever since then the car has been boosting perfect and ajust perfect also. I have no way to explain how or why the car is working perfect now. Maybe the wastegate flap was jammed but im not sure. I didnt change anything other then what i explainned in other posts. All is good with car but would like to know why this happened for future referrence. Please if anyone has info or answer let me know. THANKS LEN!!!!!!!!:)
