I have this 20g... the only problem I can see in my install is that my previous boost reference source for my boost controller in in the J-pipe that will no linger be used in favor of a 20g td06 compressor housing. I dont want to do anymore aluminum welding unless I have to... So that leaves me with tapping the comp. housing. but I unscrewed this bolt to find that there is a hole already there.

Can I use this hole as effectively as any other location?

What size is this bolt? My tap die kit has me believing it is M9x1.25 or not in fact metric...

Where can I find a barbed fitting to fit this hole?

I really want to avoid redrilling and tapping. I would like to use the original threads etc...

its m8 1.25 FYI I use an extra tial air fitting on my 20g. so if you have an external gate , use the extra air fitting and banjo that came with the wastegate.

OP, if I were you, I'd drill and tap for 1/8" NPT. That will be your most common size for fittings and the job will only take minutes.

Tial stuff is 10mm.

any sources for m8x1.25 barbed fittings? ( i suppose if not, I could always drill and tap one from a properly threaded bolt...)

And would that hole in there be big enough for for the mbc/external gate to function correctly?

Fittings with straight threads seal with an o-ring and the compressor housing would need an o-ring boss cut into it, or be ghetto and use a washer to seal. Finding a fitting to go in there is going to cost more than a 1/8" NPT tap, a drill bit, and the fitting. They're a dime-a-dozen.

Ok I think Im going to tap it, since I actually have a 1/8NTP27 tap. Is 11/32 the best readily available drill bit?

And, does anyone have a good source for 1/8 npt x 1/8 barb? I cant seem to find one anywhere home depot only has 1/4" npt threaded barbs.

What kind of store should have this? plumbing? hardware? boating?

Nowhere near me had a 1/8 x 1/8 npt, or even 3/16 x 1/8 npt. So I went 1/4 npt x 3/16" ID hose barb. 1/4 npt is way more common around here... So are the taps, and I got to use a 7/16 bit instead of a recommended R bit with reamer.

What do you guys do to get rid of metal shavings? I dont have a big parts wash bin, But I do have super hot water and degreaser and compressed air. Im alternating between all of those, and I already deburred the edges of the tapped hole.

Any proven techniques for cleaning? Don't want shavings in the engine...
