Bolt size, length, pitch for cam gear cover?

The previous owner decided to mash two obviously incorrect sized screws into the holes that hold down the cam gear cover and screw up the threads I'd like to tap them out and put the stock sized bolts back in there.

What is the stock sized bolt length, thread, and pitch for the two that hold down the cam gear cover?



PS With the threads goobered up so bad I can't even get a bolt started in there so I'll have to tap...just want to make sure I'm using the correct tap. I can see good threads further down the hole...just the top several threads are toast.

If the original threads are damage, you may want to go to the next bigger size, or use a helicoil to keep the original size.

It should be a M6x1x16 (diameter x pitch x length). You will be lucky if theres enough material left to securely tap a M6, like stated above, you would get a better thread out of a M7. But it wouldnt hurt to try the M6 first!

Thanks for the tips. Its really just the first few threads that are goobered by jamming a bigger coarse thread screw in there.
