So i plan to purchase a Drift body kit for my 94 but I've heard they are quite hard to install. Side skirts are supposed to be difficult and I've heard trimming and re-welding is required on the front bumper for correct alignment. is this true, and if so I'd appreciate some tips on how to do it. Also, what is the best way to install the kit with the best look and how hard will it be to mold the kit on?

Thanx for any replies fellas.:dsm::talon::laser:

Sorry, I have no real useful information to add to the subject of adding a body kit. I did always think though that it would be a fairly straightforward 'bolt on,' since oem ones are just held on with bolts.

However, I will say that the general consensus on this site is that body kits are . . . 'not desirable.' I'll leave others to be more specific.

I personally think the 1gbs look pretty sick the way they are, but to each his/her own. Just don't make it look like ghetto rice. I can appreciate a body kit when done right, but I hate seeing the ghetto installed kits that make the car just look cheap and . . . well, rice.

Helped a Friend put the drift kit on his 94, Just like any other kit I have put on. remove the old and line it up and bolt it back in place...and your done. Ofcourse some ebay company's have a lil fitment issues but nothing major that cant be fixed easily!

i recently put on a body kit for my 93' eclipse and the easiest part to put on is the rear bumper , the front bumper and and side skirts require some molding and some refiberglassing if your gonna do it right. but if your pretty good at fiberglassing and molding you should be in good condition. And the reason for fiberglassing is the body kits off ebay im guessing thats were you got it , are real real flexible to flexible mainly the front bumper after that your all set jus bolt it on.

Word of the wise, do not mold on your front bumper!!! that will be a headache, u bump anything with it or wheel hop and you can start over from scratch!

There is no reason to refiberglass a front bumper if there is nothing wrong with it. If it flexs some once it is on, what you can due to make it stronger and fit alot better is to add bracing. I use .5 in width metal bracing and bolt it to the kit and somewhere safe and strong on the vehicle to add strength and support.
Sorry the pics are kinda crappy but I tried to show you how I add support for the best strength. Also sorry about the preschool edit and details of the drawing...haha

Just to let anyone know a good way to mold things. I am a body tech. That is my job..And my Dsm is a 98 eclipse spyder with the nx wide body kit completely molded. If you want to mold a bumper or sideskirts and not have to worry about a crack when bumping something you can use a specific glue. It is put out by SEM and it is called multi-purpose panel adhesive. Takes a full 24 hours to dry and you need a special gun to shoot it, but nothing on your car will crack.

word to the wise if you can afford it go with a poly kit,, fiberglass is less forgiving and never comes out of the manufacturers molds very neatly, your choice tho.

I bought a body kit for my 93 talon. I bought it from a reputable company called sportcompactonly.com. I bought the vader front bumper, drifter side skirts, and drift rear bumper. All I can say is be prepared for a long painstaking headache. The front bumper ends flared out to far and when I aligned it with the fenders it put stress on the middle and made it bow up. I have yet to attempt the sideskirts. But they look like they might be the easiest. The rear bumper I actually am throwing away. The ends flared out so bad that I could not even attempt to mold them to the body. I am pretty decent at body work but I know impossible when I see it. Long story short body kits look nice when they are done right, but since they dont offer polyurethane for 1g's then be prepared for a long project that will consume a lot of time.

I think extreme dimensions offers duraflex on the 1g drifter kit. Not urethane but a little better then just glass alone...

First off all WTF why is this thread open from 07 still.
I am sure the guy figuerd it out by now.
:nono:2nd of all you don't weld fiber glass why would you wan't to do that.
