ok so i posted up a while ago about this and we concluded that either it was because i didnt have a oil catch can or my turbo is bad...

so i took off the fmic last night and put rubbing alcohol inside to clean it figuring it would be full of oil and shit, i emptied it out and the alcohol was really clean (a little yellowish tint from whatever) so is pointing right at a bad turbo? i mean it still boosts and everything...

the yellow stuff probably was oil. And really the best way i know to check for a bad turbo is to take off the inlet and try to move the shaft.

Defiinitely check for shaft play. What kind of turbo is it? My T25 spools and boosts fine but needs to be replaced and burns oil pretty well. Basically, it could very well be your turbo even though it's spooling fine and all. But if you run it too hard too long with it burning oil it will get worse and worse and you'll start smoking constantly and won't build any boost if not have the turbo fail entirely.

well i put a catch can on, and i havent driven the car much (its not my daily i have a 350z so i dont want to screw it up) but after driving a little i notice it when im at a stop light or whatever and its a small 16g

so in other words when the motor is not under load. sounds like a bad turbo to me take the inlet hose off and check for shaft play. I have seen rebuild kits for those turbos but im not sure how to do it because i never have done it. but its worth a look if you can't afford a new turbo.

yea i know how to do it i just dont want to do it and then it ends up being something else, i got laid off and my new job doesnt even pay half of what my old one did

I does sound like a turbo to me. Check for shaft play. Is this a T25? I have a rebuilt 14b for sale if you are interested.

the rebuild kit is $50 and its a 16g so i guess I'll just checkit and most likely rebuild it, this should be fun thanx for the help guys
