Hey there all, just came across a pretty good BOV sound/vid clip site with links to puchasing BOVs. I was looking over the FAQ sections and found a discussion on blow off valve sounds- but, since I couldn't post there yet I decided maybe I'd share the information. These may help you guys decide which BOV to go with so take a look. (Check out the Supra clip with 1000rwhp OMG )

http://www.blowoffvalves.com

Heh heh. What're the chances of it being such a redundant (and obvious) url?

HUGE repost. It's 2005...of course somebody else has already found this site before you.

You posting it is just as bad as somebody asking for a link to BOV sounds.

Good try, though!

Okay captain obvious, here's your cookie.

Obviously I know people have found the site before me. Is it listed anywhere on here for newbie DSMers to gawk at? No. Would it be helpful to post it along with the BOV discussion FAQs? Yes. Also, it's not exactly the easiest thing to find those clips, regardless of how obvious the site may be, SO, maybe the repost may help a few of the newer newbies out.

Now eat your cookie. :p

you wanna buy a bov based on the blow off sound???
HA, pic one that is right for your setup and it should recirculate!!

You should try to get it submitted into the Vfaq or a simple tech article on this site then, since in 2 weeks this thread will be on page 5 of this forum.

Or just not worry about it, since choosing a BOV solely based on the sound is generally frowned upon among the members of DSMTuners.

Oatmeal raisin, or it's no deal.

Hey hey now, I never stated this was for my own use. Like it or not there are people out there who DO choose their BOVs based on sound alone- frown or smirk, that's a reality. Can't there be one DSM community free of elitists who push their ideologies 24/7? Let noobs pick BOVs based on sound, does it really hurt you in the end? I thought this community was to help people, not chastize them for liking the sound of a particular BOV. Not everyone wants a 10 second car.

In any case, I'd try to have it submitted to the VFAQs but considering that Rookie Status is severely handicapped I figured posting it here (the only place where I CAN post) might get some attention on the matter and get it submitted by a mod.

this thread will be closed soon anyways yeah its ok that you wanted to post this for your own pleasure but you should of just done that on another site for your own special needs.so yeah just try to learn from your actions and youll figure out how techanical we are about things on here :thumb:

My own special pleasure? I swear, some people's lack of intelligence is beyond me.

In any case, why are people gettin' offensive. This isn't a big deal. I posted a site about BOVs for OTHER people (who are researching BOVs) to look at. Stop trolling and get the f- on with your lives. And to those of you who responded nicely, thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure to just try to submit it to the VFAQs next time.

Y'all need to get off your high horse, he was trying to be helpful.

If everyone went solely off of performance, every single one of you would be running a 1g bov or a TiAL with a blowthrough setup.

If you don't have either of the above, or if you've ever recommended anything else, then you have no right to criticize people for wanting a sound that they'll enjoy as opposed to something that will make them hate driving their car everyday.

Hey people, since were on this subject. I want to recirculate my bov, but i also want a gm maf for tuning purposes.

so what is a good/great company to go through. Is non venting better? I just don't want to ruin my motor.
thanks guys :thumb:

p.s.
i dont really care for the pshhh sound unless it will help my car.

From what I've read on the whole vent vs. non-vent issue, overall not venting is better for your car. You get a HUGE increase in gas mileage and you don't run the risk of effing anything up in your setup. If you want to be safe and go for performance, shoot at something that doesn't vent into the atmosphere. Even people who vent will agree that your car MAY let you vent into the atmosphere without any drawbacks, but it's still a safer bet to rout it into your intake and avoid any risk of screwing up your engine.

Oh, also, all of my buddies stick with the Greddy Type S for their non-DSM setups. That's an MR2 turbo, a 3000GT TT, and a Neon SRT4. None of them have complained about it at all. I personally prefer HKS based on name alone.

this is definately a well covered topic, and the bottom line in all of the threads covering this is do not vent to the atmosphere, if you really want that "sweet bov sound" you are looking at around $1500 to do it properly. o yea, this thread will definately be getting closed soon so say what you want while you can.
