I want to purchase one of these, but I am having some trouble finding one for my application. Horsepowerfreaks has them, but the site says that the smallest opening is 4 1/2" I need a big filter for my 3" carbon fiber intake piping. Anyone who has a part number or info. on these filters let me know. :thumb:

Yes, I looked at that site. I just need to figure out what adapter I need, I will call and ask them today.

I don't buy knock off stuff, I don't mind paying the extra $ for good quality and an orginal product.

i have a blitz on my van and its a total pos in filtering stuff. get the k&n.

actually, now that you reminded me im going home to put the factory air box back on the van cause that blitz is junk.

Seriously??? I have a large K & N on there right now, it is a modified 1G MAS housing with the filter (no guts) since I have the GM blow-through setup. I just want something that can flow a sufficient amount of air, no restriction. And not have to worry about it coming apart or being sucked in.

I went with a 3" universal K&N filter part number RE-0930

http://www.knfilterchargers.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RE-0930

Filter perfectly over my Dejon tool intake 3" setup. Im running a MAFT in blowthru as well.

Id recommend pulling the intake up a bit if you're on the stock turbo using zipties tied around the UICP and intake because it does rest a LITTLE bit on the wastegate nipple pinching the vaccuum hose. Its just a little safety measure in case it does hinder the wastegates operation.

Far from stock turbo, and I am using it in a custom cold air setup. I have a 3" carbon fiber intake pipe for part of it. :thumb: Should sound cool.

I plan on upgrading my turbo too. Glad my intake works with the Vtrim :) .

I was going to get the blitz but VERY wary about the bad reviews with it having horrible filtration. Decided to play it safe.

It will offer the lowest pressure drop of any filter, but it does not catch as many small particles. For many people this doesn't matter as there cars are track/weekend only and don't see enough mileage for any small dirt to creat appreciable wear.

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt it true that on turbo cars intake doesnt really change the sound (like it does on NA cars) ??

I noticed little to no difference in exhaust note or " intake noise " when I went to an aftermarket pipe, the blow off valve got a little louder, I'm assuming to it " resonating " off of a metal pipe vs. plastic/rubber.

if you're making a cold air setup, you probably won't hear anything actually. I'm assuming you're sticking the filter in the fenderwell?

Actually the carbonfiber intake pipe does make a different sound. I assume because the walls are thinner and resonate differently. The pipe came off my buddies 1.8T 2002 GTi, and it made a different sound than the other piping we had on it which was SS.

???? I can hear my turbo spool up louder than the exhaust. :) When it is outside, I am sure it will be louder, all the cars I have done have been, especially my supercharged vw, it was a lot louder.
