So i had an idea for my car that involved having to paint my hatch black. But i have a low rise spoiler and was thinking of painting that black as well i just dont know how it will turn out. Will it look sick or just retarded?? I love how the high rise spoiler with a black hatch but was wondering if a black hatch and low rise would look. Please help!

I personally think that it would look tacky if not a bit ricer. If you really want that look then buy a carbon fiber hatch so at least that way it will contribute to form and function.

It works decent on the Talons because the roof is black, as well. I'm not sure how well it would look with just the hatch black; other then looking like it was replaced due to an accident ot something of that nature. Just a black spoiler might look cool!

Everything is considered "ricey" now a days.. Tisk tisk. Everyone condemns you if you dont have the stock look. I think it wouldnt look that terrible, its your car so I say go for it! :thumb:

I said that because if you've ever seen a DSM with a hood that's painted black as opposed to being actual carbon fiber then you know what I'm talking about.

You could always plasti-dip your spoiler or whole hatch if you really wanted to. That way if you didn't like it you can just peel it off. My personal opinion would be to either go with a carbon 2gb Eclipse spoiler or high rise talon spoiler. I've never been a fan of the 3 piece factory spoilers.

The best looking spoiler IMO is Gofer's. Its a cf high rise that is partially painted. The top of it matches the color of his car while the under side remains CF. if I wasn't on my phone I would post a pic of it because it is hard to describe bit it looks damn good.

If your going with your original idea you would have to get a black hood too otherwise the hatch will look out of place. With your car having black mirrors and handles it might look good together, who knows.

That does look really good with the high rise spoiler. But with the 3 piece it doesn't look to great in my mind. The outer spoiler will throw off the color of the car but if just coloring the center piece might throw off the color of the outer piece. It just doesn't look right when I picture it.

If you go for the high rise spoiler you have to cover up the holes on the quarter panel from the 3 piece spoiler.

I'm pretty sure that in the pic you posted his hatch and wing are carbon fiber, not just painted black.

that hatch and wing do not look good imo. maybe if the panda look was completed it might flow better. thats just my opinion. no flaming needed

It's painted. That's Nick's 2g (98mitsusomethingsomething). He has since repainted it cayenne red to match the rest of the car as he didn't like the look.

Forget rise... Big hoops, park benches, and whatnot. Aerodynamics wants a teardrop shape without all the shit sticking off the car. Give a touch of rear down force with minimal aerodynamic interference... Like this...

I have no complaints about performance and it isn't really visable in the rear view... I like it.

To me that lip just looks out of place on a DSM.

M3 lip is getting played out

Really?? I've never seen another one like it around here... :idontknow:

As for out of place... I think you'd have to see it in person. I don't think it looks odd with the general lines of the car. I do think the 97-99 GSX spoilers look goofy though, so it is all just a matter of taste. Not that I should be any kind of authority on good taste... I drive a car with teeth. :p

I think this might be what your looking for this is a pic of my old gs I painted all the black and I was on the fence about hie to paint the spoiler I painted the whole low rise black and I thing the parts it the spoiler that set on the quarter panels looks nice and clean.
