under 200 miles ago i had my master and slave cylinder changed and now i am having problems with it, so i bleed it tonight and the fluid was already black. should it be? and what would cause it if not? I still have not been able to get my pedal perfect yet. any help would be great.

Did you completely change all of the fluid? If just a little of the old fluid is left in the system it will change the color of all of the fluid. Similar to not getting all of the old oil out of your engine at an oil change.

What type of problem are you having?

i didnt so the work my self on the master and slave even though i should have. I assumed that with the change they would have to flusht the system? the problem is that i have good pressure about half way pushed in but when letting the clutch out it is real light the last half. and the past month or so since the master and slave were done ive have a real fluxuation in where the clutch engages. ive just been adjusting it but then the other day the pedal would barely come off the floor, a half arsed bleed fixed that for a little till tonight when i spent about 20min bleeding it. but still not the right pressure in the pedal.

this may be a stupid question but could it be the clutch line im going to be switching to ss soon anyway. should i do it now?

There is a chance that you still have some air in the lines. I would just go ahead an put the ss line on if you have it. If not get a friend to help you bleed the system. Oh and when you do put the line on make sure you flush the system. It is really easy to do. The way I flush my fluid (which I recommend for brakes atleast once every other year, and clutch every time you have to put a clutch in) is to break the bleeder and run a clear line to a bowl of some sort. Have a friend either work the pedal or watch the fluid, get a couple of bottles of brake fluid, and pump the system until clean fluid comes out. Make sure that you do not let the system run dry at any time because that can lead problems.

If bleeding the system does not help then you could have some other problems. Try bleeding first then check for wear on the system (clutch pedal assembly or pivot ball). If none of that is your problem then check the torque on the pressure plate. I have seen similar problems on a truck that had a cracked pressure plate. If they happened to engage the clutch at the same time the crack was on the bottom of the rotation it would not fully disengage. Man that was a PITA trying to fix because it was so intermittent.
