DSM smart people!

I have a 96 Eclipse GSX with 120k on it. I just recently did front pads and rotors in late June. Now i have slow pulseating when stoping, the pedal doesnt vibrate, the whole car slowly pulsates forward and back, almost as if im slowly pushing the pedal in and out. So after much looking around, and tearing things appart (or trying to) I have found that the caliper pins are seized into the caliper assembly and possibly seizing the whole bracket as well. So, i need new calipers. I have a set of 17 inch rims, and the stock 16 inch rims as well for winter. so i need a new caliper setup that is preferably more agressive than stock, but will still fit inside the stock rims... Is this at all possible? Any help and insight would be wonderful.

Thanks in advace

Rob

I would personally just get rebuilt calipers and more aggressive pads, with SS lines. And then rotors if you need them.

I do a couple of 12.2" kits that will clear 16" wheels. However probably not the stock 16s if I recall rightly. The spokes are not quite friendly enough. Too much outer lip i think it was.

The other (and less costly) option is the Wilwood factory 2G kit
http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/Pages/05/index.asp#
This kit uses the DynaPro caliper rather than the larger FSL parts I supply. While not as "beefy" as some of the larger TCE kits, it's head and shoulders above stock. We can make some rotor substitutions for track use, a modest supply of track pads, weight loss, etc. etc.

Base price on this bad boy is about $850. And some of us are known to sell it for a few bucks less if you call....hint-hint.

Wheel clearance is about 1" compared to some of the TCE kits which use a deeper hat. So...the clearance might still be an issue for spoke design.

But for the price some wheel spacers in the winter it might still be a good plan.

Rob, I would say give Todd a call. I run the 2g Dynapro setup that he has linked to above (which I got from him, great company to deal with :thumb: ) with an upgraded directionally vented rotor & I can say my car stops amazing. I've run the kit this past summer and am still as happy with the performance as I was when I first got it. Granted it may not be a full out track setup it is IMO a tonn of brake for the street. Under spirited driving and high speed stops (130mph+) I haven't experienced any brake fade & they bite hard. First time I went to try them out after the proper breaking in was done, I went to do a nice firm stop around 90 mph & to my surprise I locked them up (no abs). When my car was off the road for a couple weeks I was driving my old mans 95 vette, which is no slouch in the braking deparment (fairly large rotors with 2 piston calipers). When I got back in my car it was I good thing I wear my seatbelt as I kept on trying to put myself through the steering wheel :D .

For the dollar cost that kit is "hands down" the winner over any kit on the market for your car. More than a junkyard kit, less than a big kit but the value trounces every one of them.

I can't produce it in house for what I can retail it to you for.

Retail item cost:
Calipers $250ea
Rotors $150ea
Hats $125ea
Pads $75
Hoses $75
Radial brackets $175ea
Hardware $25

Total $1575 and you can buy it outright for a bit over half that.
