big16g or 18g?

just wondering i am upgrading my turbo soon, i have a 14b right now, but i want bigger, shoudl i go big16g or 18g? my goal for my car right away is 12's, i have a front mount, custom piping, injen intake,3" custom exhaust no cats, 550's, 255 fuel pump, i dont want much lag but i want a lot of power, thanx for the info guys!!

You can definately get into the twelves with a big 16g, and from what I've heard, the 18g isn't the best turbo. If you want bigger, I'd probably grab a 20g or t3/t4. There would be more boost lag though with a larger turbo. I'd say if your goal is _only_ 12's (still pretty fast heh), then just grab the 16g.

20G's are over priced IMHO....Evo 3 16g or a PTE/AGP 50 trim hybrid. I have a 50 trim PTE hybrid through RnR and I love it.

I would also recommend the Evo 3 16G. I don't have any experiance with any of the other mentioned turbos but I can tell you the Evo 3 definately has a lot of potential.

ok i think i'm gonna go w/ the evoVIII 16g, my other ? is should i get an evo mani or just port my 2g exhaust mani... i also have a 6 bolt swap w/ the 2g mani, and other goodies form 2 g that flow better, pay $200 for an evo mani or just port it myself??

WelL I would say get the EVOIII turbo I love mine and its spools fast as hell but if you get one you should get it ported and cliped, mine has strong power from 3k to 7500rpm I run 10psi with the BC off an it still has good power but when I turn the BC on 17-21psi pending were I set it to feels great I have no time with it yet but I can kill my boy's STI with it set a 17psi and his car is not stock

I ran 7.94@87mph in 1/8 mi last night with EVOIII 16G. It really wakes up pass 20psi. 20psi I ran 8.5's and two more 2psi no fuel change, and ran .5 faster. I'm surprise what this turbo is capable.

hey i dont want to hijack your thread or tell you not to go with either of those turbos...but why not try to go 12's on the 14b?? I say try to push the 14b to its limits and spend some money on other areas of the car. Im gonna assume you dont have a clutch since you didnt list it in your first post might want to spend the money on a 2600.

but either way you go the 14b, 16g and 18g can all put you in the 12's and all 3 are good turbos.

ahh cool... im just tryin to help save you some money and what not i bet if you where to invest in a nice fuel pressure regulator/data logger/egt gauge and tune that thing you would have one hell of a chance to get into the 12's if your a good driver. Dont give up on the 14b with a good port job that thing can haul some ass its been proven time after time.

yeah actually been thinking about it, save myself about 600$ go and get my car repainted w/ a chin spoiler, i will sell my navigator and with the money left over i'm paying off bills, buying a 5.0 stang.. and throwing some more money in my eclipse, i want 12s man

i understand ya 100% i guess its all about how much money your willing to spend and how much money you actually have. no matter what good luck....it would be awsome to see another 14b in the 12's.
