Hey everyone, I have searched and couldn't find the answer to my question. I was wondering what is the best rpm to shift at when racing in a 1/4 mile or general racing. I just installed a forced performance actuator, and iam still adjusting it to find the right boost. Last week I ran 14.5 at 96 mph shifting into second at 6200rpm, shifting into third at around 6500 rpm, and by the end of the 1/4 i would hit about redline around 6900rpm. I was wondering if there is a better ways to shifting. I am running 15psi which is still dropping off to 12psi by redline. I tried shifting at 6000 rpm a couple runs but it seemed i bogged my car when shifting that low. Any suggestions would be great. :dsm:

All cars are a bit different, dependant on many factors. You can run it on a dyno and see what your hp, and torque curves are and that would tell you all you need to know.

1st and 2nd I'd take it to 6800 or so and 6500 after that. ( If you indeed have a t28 ) You need to dyno it to really see where your power drops off, however that seems like a decent time for your mods. The fact that you are fwd really hurts in drag racing.

I counted the blades on the wheel and it matches the number of a t28. But i have a t25 housing. It seems power drops off after 6500rpm, but if i shift below 6k it will bog a little. Thanks for the help everyone.

I think if I remember the t-28 looks like a t-25...so it might end up using the same kinda houseing, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Well, I take 1st up to 7000rpm, and then take 2nd to 6500, and 3rd to 6500, and get to stay in 4th for about 1.5 seconds before I cross the 1/4. Shifting into 4th has helped me out quite a bit though for trap speed as apposed to taking 3rd up to 7000. Oh, and I launch my fwd at 3500-3700rpm. It seems to work rather well for me.
