so im going to do a minor tune-up later on during the day. im changing my oil, plugs & wires, i have nology hotwires & ngk platinums. i've done some research and there are different gap sizes - .38, .44, .50. i dont know which size to gap it at. who ever runs these plugs what is the best gap?

They should be gapped out of the box, but you are n/t so take them back and buy Ngk's bkr6e-11.
Ngk's platinums will not do much for your car.

Buy a gaping tool while your there. It's as big as a 50 cent piece. But seriously, just stick to the stock plugs all the way around with DSM's. Not worth the trouble or money otherwise.

I too suggest sticking with the stock style plug. Regular NGK are IDEAL not just ok for our 4g63 cars. No need for the all the special electrode shapes and material. . . Jsut get a solid proven plug.
