Best Brake Pads

my car is (was) a daily driver since new w/some x-cross each year f/the past 2 1/2 yrs. i use ebc green stuff since then (plus upgraded lines) http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resu...utoYear=1998&brand=EBC&perfcat=perf&x=58&y=10 the only problem is they cooked the factory rotors in that time (car has seen 10-12 track days, plus i am pretty hard on brakes - late braker). however, they work as good if not better that factory when cold, but put some heat in them and you better be wearing a seatbelt or you will go through the front glass - awsome. during the process of fixing my car (turbo recently took a dump), i am switching to the aem rotors to help dissipate the heat better so i do not cook the rotors. these pads are rotor friendly (other than cooking the small 10" rotors, to many stress cracks, have to change them out). http://ebcbrakes.com/?src=overture

For example, I have used Porterfield r4s pads and they are relatively rotor friendly. They stop nice and quiet. However when really pushed they WILL fade.
I have also used Porterfield r4e pads. When cold they will chew rotors noticeably. They squeek until they warm up.

Hmmm. I have the R4E pads and they're perfectly quiet. Unlike the Carbotech Panthers that I had before that screeched constantly

I'm digging up this old thread because I'm definitely going to be buying some better pads for a car a purchased recently.

After using Rotex Gold pads on all 4 corners with RRE SS lines and the factory AWD on my GST, I want at least the same kind of braking feel but I'm willing to try to find a better pad.

Currently, the new car has factory rear pads and EBC Greens in the front. They sure don't dust... but they don't bite nor stop either. My Rotex Golds dusted alright, but in combination with the SS line, you had pretty darn good bite and feedback from the pedal.

I'm interested in possibly getting a set of PBR/Axxis Ultimates. Ceramic brakes seem quite attractive and the claim is that they are better than the ever-popular Metal Masters. I'm not sure if I'm willing to go with the older HP Plus, Carbotech Panthers, or even the Porterfield R4S. I've tried Hawk brakes, and I'm not so sure if they offer any advantage over my Rotex pads as the Hawks and Carbotechs I've heard are generally worse. The Porterfields I'm not so sure about since I'd be only getting the R4S pads for street use though a set of R4Es is on the order list if I do attend some track days.
