t-belt went on my girlfriends car...13 bent valves...anyone bent all of the valves...just for humor.

My brother has bent them all a couple times. I have a picture I found on this site with all 16 bent, it's not mine though.

Edit: After looking at the picture again, it looks like there might be 1 good one, so that's 15.

I think 8 is my record so far on our TSI race car. 5600RPM, 5 intake, 3 exhaust.

I just replaced all of them when i fixed it, though....

Yeh I got all 16 at once and cracked all 16 valve guides. I dunno if I should be proud or sad LOL. When they had to take the valves out they were bent so bad they had to hammer them to relieve tension on the springs. All the exhaust valves broke when they smacked them. Good times on the dyno. Nice first experience on it.

What rpm was she at?
she was on her way to mt.rushmore climbing a hill under full power and boom...she said"it just lost power"you got to laugh unless your paying the bill.

I dont have any pics but i was at the local junkyard lookin for gold, and came across some serious nastiness. The head was removed and there were pieces of valves everywhere. On one cylinder a valve actually broke off, flopped around in there and ended up goin straight through the piston. I wanted a pic but they said no cameras allowed.

I bent 8 when my timing belt snapped, but I also broke off one of the valves and blew an inch deep crater in one of the pistons. Also managed to get aluminum embedded in the head so that I can't get the plug out. Might post pics if anyone's interested.
Anyway, congrats on the 13 ;)

holly shit, thank god for new timing belt and checked tensioner every time the head comes off.

That looks nasty, I hope i never have to deal with that. When I was at schooll we had an Avenger come in with a snapped belt, 6 valves were bent and one head broke off right through a picton as well, then the stem punched right through it too.

We jsut got done havin the motor built on my Aunts 1g and the stubby shaft wasnt tightened down enough or loctite and it came off, which then led to the oil pump gear eating its way through the cover and the belt. When we saw it there was maybe a 1/3rd of an inch of belt left. That wouldve sucked because we just built the rotating assembly too, LOL.

eeeep! i just broke my balance shaft belt and pieces of it were spinnin around in there for a while too cause my belt had worn out marks from it being there so long. I was lucky that my timin belt didnt brake. ....

I got all 16 once on my 90 gst I used to own. I am sure it wasnt all 16 until I turned it over for 5 minutes wondering why it wouldnt crank. LOLS. Glad I know about cars now. That was my first car after getting my license.
