Hey guys, I was about to install my new bushing made in aluminium. They are the same as the one you would buy from vendors, I made them from dimensions 2LiterRiceEater send me. The probleme is that they don't seems to be thick enough !? Even if I use the washer that is there with the stock bushing I'm still about 1/16" to 1/8" too short ... Did anyone ever install these and could give me a hint please ?

Here are the bushings:

Maybe I'm just suppose to shim them ?

I just texted 2LiterRiceEater and he told me that his kit went on without any issue ... ? I know this kit work but it will bring the bearing carrier closer to the body and I tought the driving shaft was supposed to be align ? Are my stock bushing different than other 1gen ?

Stock bushing goes from body, thick washer, metal insert, top rubber bushing, bearing carrier, lower rubber bushing, flat washer and nut.

So what I'm trying to say is that even if I transfer the thick washer on the aluminium bushing I'm still missing the metal insert tickness ...

The over length is not that important. What is important is that the spacer on top gives the proper stand off height from the chassis.

Kevin

Well that's exactly what is not happening with this ebay kit, it's kind of hard to say but from the chassis you have the tickness of the top washer + top of metal insert + top rubber bushing. And now it's only top washer + metal bushing since you don't use the stock metal insert.

Tomorow I'll try to mesure the stock height to compare with this kit.

Here are the stock one from a vendor:

And here's the ebay one just like mine, this is 2LiterRiceEater kit:

I just tought maybe the metal insert could go in the aluminium bushing ? Well from these pictures the answer is no. ;)

Here's STM kit:

Just an other design but still look like the same tickness ...

Thanks for your reply Kevin

I'll have to look closer tomorow but maybe the top of the insert snug in the rubber bushing when you torque down the nut. The tickness seems to be worse because in my picture because the bushing is not as flush as it would be when installed ... But still ...

Here, you can see that I was not crazy ... The bad news for you guys how only used the stock washer is that you are 5mm off, and it you forgot the washer than you're 7.5mm off from stock position ... This is all on my 1991 GSR-4.

Here's my kit in 6061 ;)

I made the new spacer from a 1-1/4'' chrome hardened steel shaft, it was a real pita to cut ... Total cost 0$ since I took it from the scrap' drum ;) I made the assembly at 12.5mm since it was better looking and it`s only 0.005'' ticker, so about the thickness of an hair ... ROFL

That's weird. I didn't have a spacer on my 1g like that. I bought the Torque Solutions kit on ebay and it went on without a problem. Basically the same thing STM sells.

Well every 1gen have these stock washer in the top pics, if it wasn't there it's only because some one forgot to put them back on. I never said that the bearing carrier would not bolt without these spacer ...
