How did you get it down to ~2600lbs with full interior/ac/heat?

The car does not have AC, just heat. It is really easy getting these cars light. Nothing can be overlooked when you are dropping that much weight though. Also look at certain things and figure out how to make it lighter. My car will be on both front and rear tubular subframes. They alone gave me almost 100lbs. Other than that thank you for all of the compliments!

Just some porn for you all.

Wow , its been some time since the last update. Anyways the car now has an 8.8 sitting under it, I have decided I would rather spend my time driving it than fixing it. Up next is a 300m transfer case and a custom 2 piece chromoly drive shaft! Progress has been rather slow as we have been experimenting with powder coating and ceramic coating. We are now looking into thermal barrier and Ceramic DFL coatings. Anyways, here are some pictures!

79-93 Mustang 8.8? Is my thinking that its, the correct width correct?

Why did the full tube chassis went nowhere ????? Curious to know...

Both cars are still going, Both this GSX and the Tube Chassis. And my 1g. Building 3 cars at once is tough stuff. Especially when one of them is going to cost over 50 grand. My 1g will be done soon. Then its on to the GSX, Then the tube chassis.

79-93 Mustang 8.8? Is my thinking that its, the correct width correct?

It is actually from a ford explorer. The width is close. But not 100%

2.0 Long rod

I love just the thought of knowing in that last set of pics how stock the cars rear looks but knowing there's a ford 88 from an exploder lurking in there, now if there was somethign aside from the custom 300M T-case and another tranny option that are on the same level as that rear we'd all have a goal in mind and the junk yards would be making a killing off us LOL

Also, what made you choose the long rod engine and what is your rod ratio?? I use to and sometimes still do machine custom long rod setups with cylinder spacers for small two-stroke engines (have made just at 7.1HP out of a 30.5cc weed eater engine that's HEAVILY modded) :D But being that our trannies aren't the best high RPM performers as well as the attention the valvetrain needs in the 10k RPM range, what is it you're wanting to either do with the long rod as far as redline or are you looking for an overall wide powerband through a wider upper RPM band ( i guess i should just ask what 's the intended use and reason for the LR combo?) I would think that a 2.1 LR or even just a 2.3 stroker would be a more practical build in terms of watching the "now i need this to match that"scenario on that sort of engine build with the other two cars already eating at your wallet

please filll a brotha in, I love to hear about projects that aren't your daily build you canfind 26 people all running the same combo online here at once (but i can't talk, i'm on holset, wtih a 9:1 wiseco/eagle H combo, so i'm the appitamy of that)

Honestly I dont remember exactly what the rod ratio is off the top of my head, I do have it written down though. I went with the 2.0 LR because it has nearly the same capabilities as a 2.1 de stroked motor. It is in my opinion more cost effective in the end.

The transmission will be an auto, so shifting wont be an issue up high and it should hold the power I am looking for with no issues. I am saddened that this car is on hold right now, But if you have seen my 14b build you will understand how I build my cars. Its always from the ground up. The GSX might be done for next year yet depending on if my funds stay as good as they are right now!
