2G Battery Relocation

The battery has to be in a sealed box and have a cut off switch if you want it to be NHRA legal. I saw black plastic boxes at Auto Zone for 14 bucks. There's also a huge thread on battery relocation. Type it in the search button.

I do also plan on getting a switch for it. I was reading the big thread about the relocation kits and it kind of went off topic, and i didn't see any pictures of common mounting locations. I was planning on mounting in the right far corner of the trunk. And as for routing the pos. wire, ideas would be great, thanks.

Here's a pretty sweet way to mount your switch for a street driven DSM. I used a plate holder from a late 80's Camaro, was like $8 I think.
I still need to label the "On", "Off" on there to be NHRA legal.

I was going to mount my on/off swith in the trunk near the battery, most likely by the rear seat on the right. Will this be acceptable?? Also i was planning on running the Power cable under the car.
Wouldn't that kinda defeat the purpose of a safety cutoff switch. If you put it inside the car then the guys trying to save you from exploding can't get to it. I'm by no means telling you what or what not to do. I'm just saying that everyone I know who has a cut off switch mounts out in the open so safety crews can quickly find it. Oh and it's just me but I like to run my cables inside. Less chance of catching road debris and shorting. IMO.

Awesome thats all i wanted was opinions from people who have done it before. Ill run the power cable on the inside. And as for the safety switch ill figure out a location, dunno if i'm gunna do the licence plate idea although it looks sweet. What are other common switch mounting locations.

Behind the plate is a good idea if it's street driven.

You wouldn't want some punk to walk up and switch it off while its in the parking lot. You would lose your tune..

EDIT: If you have DSMLink that is.. Not sure about other devices

I use a full breaker switch right at my left leg on the front of the door frame. A full disconnect. If you want to ever run that car, you are going to have to have a switch that both you and the possible crew saving your ass can get to... And it damn sure better be obvious that it what it is for! I use bright yellow for electrical cut offs and bright red for fuel.

Very good to know, I supposed I can put one behind my licence plate then. Ill have to buy a cool flip up adapter haha.
A "cool flip up adapter" is only your local wrecking yard away. All the late 80's Camaro's have them and there are a ton in the yards now. Should be less than $10 for one.

Just an FYI that it's not legal per NHRA rules to have that style.

AAAaaaarggg! That would figure. Oh well, I wasn't planning to go the the track for a while anyway. Guess I'll be finding a new switch to put in. Sucks that I'll have to pull the bumper cover off again.

Im sure its not racing legal, but i ran my pos and neg under the carpet passenger side then up through the firewall. You cant see it and it works good.

Switched ignition circuit on dash panel wired to turbo timer and push button start, but still requires a key to fire.

Chris ain't messing around... :hellyeah: I wanted to put mine in the dash, but I couldn't get it to look right, and I didn't want to hack into it if a wasn't sure I could make it look good. It's a DD, so if it looked like ass, I'd have to see it taunting me everyday.
