Went to start my car up yesterday and it wouldn't go. Boosted it with a battery out of my parents car and it started right up, unhooked the other battery then let it run for a bit. I checked the voltage and it was @ 14.2 so I figured it was good. When I tried to start the car today to put my windows down it wouldn't start again. After boosting it again and unhooking the other battery, I sat in it for 5-10 minutes and watched the battery voltage, even with the car running it slowly dropped down(14.2 - 14.1 - 14.0 - 13.9 - 13.8 - 13.7 - 13.6). I'm pretty sure it's not the alternator, since the battery looses juice whether or not the car is running or not.

I checked the fluid levels in the batt, they're fine. Does this mean my battery is just toast?

how old is the battery? the best way to test the battery to see if it's dead or not is to bring it to Sears or any other shop that can test the battery. They can microwave it and check to see if it'll hold power. If it won't hold, then more than likely the battery is dead since you say it's losing power even when the car is off.

i'm quite sure it's not the alternator, since it's loosing power with the car off too. I brought a digital battery tester home from where my dad works, it came up saying "11.46v, 549cca, GOOD-RECHARGE"

didn't say the battery as toast, I dunno. The car has been sitting in my driveway for about a month, never had a problem with the battery before then

take it to sears or autozone they can test teh battery, as for the car always pulling load, take it somewhere where they can measure it, sears can do it for sure. If something is always on depending on the current draw it can do this. to find out what id doing it, if that seems to be the case, start pulling fuses till the symptom goes away then you are pointed to the correct circuit, to help narrow it down. good luck electrical problems can be a bear sometimes.

EDIT however due to it losing juice when the car is on, autozone can check the alternator also to make sure its keeping up. end EDIT
