so im wondering if my "new computer" is messed up. the first computer i got from autozone wouldnt let my car start. I am on the 2nd one and it wouldnt let my car shut off. I assumed it was because of the Cam Position sensor being tapped into the Alternator relay. Well after moving it to a different fuse as a temporary fix. I am now finding that my battery keeps going dead. I'm wondering if the problem is an issue with the computer not shutting off or is it something else? If i jump the car off and drive it throughout the day its fine but once it sits over night the battery is dead. Any ideas?

I had this same problem with my 92 laser, I changed the ecu and that solved the problem. I also replaced the FPR just in case and never had that problem after.

Did you post for a wanted ECU, I've come across ECU's at the junk yard here and there and would have been willing to get you one so you wouldn't have to use a AutoZone one. Turbo and non Turbo

its a non-turbo and I'm gonna try running a new wire to my cam position sensor from the ECU. I am thinking the problem is that the wire going to the CPS was put on a relay that is some how connected to a Capacitor somewhere. Cause the car shuts off like normal if i move it to a different relay. I dont think its an ignition switch so much cause the radio and windows shut off like normal.

I know the power wire for the CPS is bad so im gonna fix that issue and see what happens. Ill let you guys know tomorrow.

OK so my issues is apparently resolved. I was in the process of trying to find a different fuse to run that wire to and see which ones wouldnt cause the CPS to come on with the car off. I pulled the fuse for the battery in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side. (the big one not the little one) and found that it wouldnt work for what i was trying to do. Put the fuse back in and decided what the hell lets see if my car will start.

I turn the key and it fires up. So i think well maybe its a coincidence. So I shut the car off and decided i woudl wait about 30 seconds and try again. So i turn the key and it starts up again like its supposed to. So I get out and wiggle the wires on the connector for the CPS thinking maybe its a loose wire or something. Well it never dies. So i try it about 4 or 5 more times with the theory of well if its gotta mess up at some point, and it never does. I drove it around the block and it never died. Also whats awesome is the issue with the fuel pump relay clicking so much went away as well.

I'm so confused about this. anyone have any idea as to how to explain it to me so i can be more enlightened. I mean I disconnected the battery when i changed the computer so nothing should have had power when i put the new one in. My guess is maybe that fuse just didnt have a good connection. Either way I'm extremely happy its fixed but still confused as to why it just started working.

OK so apparently I didnt fix the problem. I was on the way to work today and my car dies while going 70 and wont start again. i get out and messs with the connector for the Cam Angle Sensor and get back in and it starts back up. I go about 2 more miles and same thing happens. I get to work and have decided it is a broken wire somewhere or something in the harness under the hood not giving the CAS power all the time. I wiggle the crap out of the wires in the harness going to the CAS and nothing happens. Could it be possible that the CAS is actually bad?

My experience with the cas was this. I was driving from bar in pensacola, and the car shut off on me. I didn't have the issue of the battery dying on me, but I did have a brand new alternator, and battery installed... This may have been a warning to the cas F*ing up on me. Anyways, after a drunken argument with a tow truck driver and making an ass outta myself, I get the car to a local shop. CAS is F'ed... So, I beleive that is where you are. I ended up replacing the h20 pump, thermostat... ect the same things you replace once replacing the TB or HG...
