Ok I removed the rear b/s and wanted to keep the front one in so i didn't have to tilt the engine at a wicked angle, but once i got the car all back together i developed a oil leak shortly afterward. To make a long story short i have an oil leak around the front balance shaft sprocket because the darn shaft moves back and forth about an 1/4 of an inch. When the shaft is pushed in no leak, but under hard driving it will back out again. And tips on how to keep this thing from backing out. thanks

Are you sure you slid the little Sleeve back over the Shaft & behind the Front Balance Shaft Sprocket?

Oil leak sfter BSE is usually someone who forgot to blank the unused Front Balance Shaft Tensioner Bolt hole with a short Bolt, Washer & RTV - OR - forgot to replace the little Sleeve behing the Cog on the unused Front Balance Shaft or plug the hole properly - You also should have sealant on the Tensioner Bolts. Quite obviously one should replace EVERY old Oil Seal on the Front Case while you had it off - these motors are old!

my bad im a dumb a$$, i read that so wrong. i thought u ment the plug you put in when the front shaft is removed.

I did put the spacer in and all of the other things you mentioned. But the B/S still moves back and forth just a bit when the sprocket is on, and when its backed out thats when it leaks.

original poster: You only removed one balance shaft?

I wouldn't be comfortable running the engine on one balance shaft. Either run both or remove them both.

Use a jack under the oil pan and drop the driver side engine mount. That should give you enough clearance to remove the 2nd shaft.
