Well, Elle Mae has developed a pretty good oil leak around the front main seal, so now its time to replace all of the stuff on that side of the engine and while i am at it i am going to do the Balance shaft eliminator kit.

Heres the question:
I have priced the kits and they go from one extreme to another. $125 all the way down to $45. What are the differences in them. Buschur racing has them for 75 and Diamond star specialties has them for 46 shipped to your door. what is the difference in the kits and what kind do you all have? Thanks in advance for any help

DO NOT PAY THAT MUCH!!!

All you really need are parts from the Mitsu dealer...a Mitsubishi Mirage to be specific. You need the stubby shaft and the balance shaft blockoff plate from a Mirage, and you can either pound out your bearings and turn them to block off the oil hole, or get a new set of bearings and install them where its blocking off the oil hole in the block.

Here is the vfaq link that has all the part numbers from the dealer. I think I got the whole kit for like $30.

There should be no difference. Most kits are a freeze plug, a stubby shaft and two block off bearings. I did my kit out of the car while i was rebuilding the motor, there is a bit more involved doing it in the car, actually im not sure but those balance shafts are quite long, you might have to yank the motor out.

Yeah, they are pretty long but you can get go them without dropping the motor. You might have to lower it just a tad though on that end. I guess you can leave the front one in and remove the rear one. Just take the bs belt off. I've heard of people running it like this and having good results.

Meeh. To tell you the truth, I don't even notice it. The only time I notice that they are gone is when I'm replacing the timing belt.

Another reason ppl do that is so they dont have the increase in oil pressure. ;)
