I have this knoking noise coming from what seems to be my engine. I think it might be the rod bearings. It does it at idle and all thru the rpms. Would rod bearings make noise even at idle? what are some other things that i should check?

Yes, its possible you spun a bearing and the noise you're hearing is rod knock. Does the knocking tempo increase with RPM? Only one way to find out for sure.. drop your oil pan and check for play.

is it a slow knock or a fast one? if its slow chances are its the bearings :( can you shoot a video and post it here? I'm sure that will get you a quicker diagnoses!, you can also do a quick check, take off you oil filter and cut it open with a dremel or something and take out the actual filter material, if your bearings are at the point of making a noise chances are youve already sent metal through the oil filter.

good luck

ok, let me tell you how this started. I was driving along and all of a sudden the car bucked and right away i could hear something. The car felt like it lost power and it started to overheat. If it was a bearing would it start to overheat? Maybe it just lifters? but i dont think lifters would cause all those problems, right? The car starts up fine still, but i just havent driven it since it happened. And my oil pressure is good on start up but after a while it gets really low. It was always like that.

spun rod bearing, had same symptoms in a sbc. Ended up being rod 3 trashed its bearing. We still made it home but had a nasty knockng noise.
