It's supposed to be there, usually theres one on the otherside that comes out with it too but it must be stuck in your head still. Put it in place where it should go and tap it in with a rubber mallet...

when i try to put it back it hits the other one thats on the head.

The head has the taps sticking out too just that 1 cap has 1 sticking out (pic)

got it fixed
thanks guys

You are supposed to put the caps in the same spot they came off and facing the same way, so if a dowel pin is stuck in the cap instead of the head, there isn't one in the head (in that spot) for it to hit.

^^ Yea, if somehow you ended up with an "extra" cap, something is wrong and that's porbably not the correct cap for that head. Otherwise, it's not that big a deal if the dowel comes out of the head and sticksin the cap..although rare on cam caps, it can happen.

But like i said.. if you ended up with an extra, don't assemble and run it until you can be assured that it is the correct cap for the head.. would be a shame to waste a good cam, head and possible more when the metal shavings start to fly
