I have been trying to diagnose this hard start problem and I think this massive vacuum/boost leak has to do with it. I tried everything from the ECU, to the ECT, to the spark plugs/gap, to the base timing... none of it fixes this problem. It does not want to start and it dumps gas in the cylinder. Once I air them out, it runs rich as hell with a high idle and once it shuts off it won't start again until I air out the cylinders. I said to myself, maybe a boost leak test will tell me something...
All four injectors were leaking massively! My gauge was reading 10-12 psi with 20 psi coming out of my compressor and it was a very loud leak. What could be causing this problem, I replaced the insulators and o-rings not too long ago and they are still soft and pliable. I installed them dry but I figured that wouldn't matter much. I think it may have to do with the fact that I'm using RC550 injectors. It seems like the top rubber spacer deal is not sturdy enough to put pressure on the injector insulators to make a seal there. The barrel on top of the injector that you stick into the rail is a little thinner than the stock ones so those rubber space don't fit snugly...
Anybody ever have this problem? Could a big air leak like that cause the problems I described????
