You don't actually need to take the axles out of the hub to get the axles out of the tranny. Here's what we did and it worked fine:
1)Unbolt both lower control arms from the chassis.
2)Unbolt the steering knuckle from the lower lateral arm (I think. I haven't done this in a year or so) Either way its the next bolt up the arm.

At this point you should be able to move the whole hub assembly all over the place. I don't know if FWD's have the carrier bearing holding the axle to the block, but if you do take that off. Pull the axles out of the tranny and manuever them out of the way below the block.

As far as the axle nut goes, just use a lot of penatrating oil, let it sit, and get a big ass breaker bar.

Your best bet would probably be an impact gun, but like flumpdsm said you don't need to remove them from the hub. Most people follow the method he has mentioned, this is what I did when I pulled my tranny, works great.

In order of difficulty (easiest to hardest):

1. Air impact gun
2. Oxy-acetylene to get the nut hot and a long breaker bar
3. Mapp gas to get the nut hot and a long breaker bar
4. Long breaker bar by itself and couple friends
5. Electric impact gun (which probably won't work at all)

thankx for the info guys havent had time to try any of them but hopefully monday i can get it all done and all the shit out

but once again thankx:thumb:
