Ok lately i have been working on my 91gsx tranny i need some info on how to take it apart
I had a tread on here about this but cant find and if some one could give me some web site or some thing about the trannys. I need to take mine apart completly to see what is wrong with it It doesnt move the car it spins them when the car is jacked up and it does go back slowly when in reverse so there gotta be some thing wrong with the differential.

Try vfaq.com, also search the forums. Maybe someone has already done what you are trying to do and can offer some advice.

Drain the tranny. Pull the tranny from the car. Set the tranny with the imput shaft side down on a table/bench what ever clean area your working on. Your gonna wanna work from the top down at this point. Remove the bolts from the back cover 14mm I believe. Next is the tricky part getting the cover off. what ever you do DO NOT use a screw driver or anything to pry it apart. Its soft metal and you will gouge it. I found it best to use a hammer and SOFTLY tap around it while pulling up. After that just take your time taking things apart. Make diagrams and take pictures if you need to. Let me know if you have anymore questions on how to get something apart.

You mean a LSD diff. no it should not be because your awd. However someone may have welded your center diff. Only way to tell is to keep pulling it apart. Good luck and let me know how it goes. If you need help take pictures and post them it makes things alot easier then trying to explain them.

Thank you el_guapo that makes it alot easier then trying to explain it to him. Anyways have fun with the learning experince Nihad and member if you do it right the first time you wont have to do it again :thumb:

oh thanks guys great info i have looked for this but couldnt find it thank alot great help.

ok got the tranny apart and dont see any thing wrong with it what could cause this kinda problems that the car doesnt move and doesnt the transfer case have to be bolted to the tranny for the front wheels to move i was thinking that the front should move

Would any one know what is going on with my tranny we have it apart now and there is no sign of broken parts all the diff are good center diff and the front big diff is good to so what else could cause the tranny not to move the car.

has any one experienced some weired problem like this on a awd tranny the tires spin when the car is up off the ground but when down on the ground it doesnt go any where like the clutch i slipping but it not i replaced the clutch and a stock presure plate the old one was just fine to so what could be causing this kinda problems the machanic opened it up and he said there is no problem no broken diff no nothing could the transfer case be doing this or could the rear differential be the problem i figured the front wheel should still pull the car. any help would be appreciated

well thanks for all the help i had the tranny opened and we find nothing and the guy when through the tranny and find a part on the center diff shaft that was stuck on it is is suposed to move in and out or some thing like that so we put every thing back together and i put it in my car and i find out it works man i was happy i take some pic of that part. so u guy can see if that could of caused it it works now and drives good the previous owner didnt install the injectors in right so the bottom seall on the last cylinder is kinked so it runs like shit and shuts off it allso suck air through there will try to have it fixed tomorrow
