how would i go about converting my awd talon to a fwd...it will not be permanent. my driveshaft and rear end is making alot of unwanted and unneeded grinding. so while i replace and get some nice beefy parts :thumb: i was thinking of spinning the front wheels for awhile since i don't feel like i want to get a beater or anything. any help would be awesome. i plan to keep the awd tranny and t-case hopefully. is there a way to do this?

Get an adjustable viscous coupler.. if you choose to do this route. Otherwise you'll be tearing up your center diff.

Its cheaper, and smarter to keep it all wheel and fix the problem. You sure its not just a frozen rear caliper or anything? Did u take the cover off the diff and see what your working with?

I think there is a way to Break/Modify your transfer case so its FWD. kids do this to dyno there AWD's i don't know what it in tales and have never herd of someone doing this to (fix there car)

One more thing. as long as the axles are in the rear will spin as you drive so what you think to be a grinding rear will still grind. if you take the shafts out your diff is just open to colect dirt. and i cant remember if your wheel bearings are fully sealed by the cups or the shafts? if its by the shafts thats another reason you cant take the shafts out.fix it right

yeah, ill probably just bring it to mitsu and have them deal with it. never did any work on a driveshaft or rear axle before, especially to a dsm. when i drive the car, i hear a clunking metal on metal loud pinging type noise from under the car and it only happens at a certain point of every revolution of the driveshaft. its pretty loud up until about 20, then it kind of zones out because of my not so quiet exhaust system. today i floored it in first and car seemed to skip randomly and i kind of get a clunk once in a while when i step on or off the gas. but like i said only once in a while. on wednesday im gonna lift it up and spin em and see if i can get anything out of that. but i guess ill keep it awd while i fix it. :thumb:

sounds more like an axle shaft to me. go into a parking lot and do tight circles left and right tell us if it clunks alot when you do that.
