are there any problems with taking off the driveshaft and the tranfer case and driving the car in 2wd mode? i will be swapping to a FWD manual as soon as possible but i need this as a temporary thing, any problems with this??

i dont really know why you would want to, but there is this thing for sale, its called the vicious copling eliminator, it allows awd ppl to dyno on a fwd...aka it lets you drive as a fwd, and im sure you could remove most of the stuff after it..or if you just need the rear wheels not moving you could just have it installed...

no idea why you would want to? but as above or just have it welded to permantly run fwd

Haha, that's the first time I've heard that question. It's always been the other way around. Why exactly are you using a FWD transmission? Did you get a good deal on it or something?

When I said FWD isn't fun, I mean't to launch. But they are quicker on the highway due to less moving parts.

I've been driving one for over a year with everything removed and it does just fine, no problems with anything, go ahead and rip everything out and roll dude. :dsm:

From what I'm told, unless you have a fwd transmission in it, or a viscous coupler eliminator, your viscous coupler will, well, eat itself. Which is why my car has been sitting in the driveway for the past month ( ) while my slow ass mechanic gets me a new transfer case. If it was safe to drive with just the t-case and driveshaft off I'd still be driving it. Plus it had NO torque when I drove it home like that (hence the purpose of the VC, it's still trying to send torque to the rear wheels)

So there was this guy i was talking to and he said that going the other way (FWD to AWD) was a bad idea and it would never run the same is this true? Also is it easy to find the parts to do this? Could i buy this guys 1g stuff for my 2g or is the suspension geometry different? sorry not trying to steal thread just asking a couple of question since we are on this topic. :dsm:
