I searched but found nothing too concrete on my question. That is if I follow the VFAQ on "Hooking up aftermarket gauge lights to factory dimmer switch" http://vfaq.com/index-main.html, will the gauge lights come on when I turn the headlight switch on and then dim with the dimmer switch? Does the dimmer switch in the 2g's have the same wiring pattern/colors as the 1g's? Also, where is a good place to tap for a voltmeter gauge? Thanks for the help.

yes that is it's function.

yes (Note that they are not interchangable however. 2g uses a circuit board where 1g uses a rheostat). Here's a better hook up description for the 2g: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241353

Also, where is a good place to tap for a voltmeter gauge? Thanks for the help.

ALWAYS connect the voltmeter directly to the positive battery post. Anywhere else and you will get misleading readings due to voltage drops.
