Alright, I just bought a 1990 Plymouth Laser A/T 2.0 litre DOHC for $75. It needed a new computer...so I bought a new computer for this car and it runs great. There is just one thing that bothers me. When I put the car into drive there is a lot of shaking/vibrations. when it idles it dosnt have this problem it is jus when i put it into drive, 2 or low. So what is causing this shaking? Also if I just turn the key into the on position and shift it to drive it makes a HUmming/clicking noise....is this normal or should i worry about it?

i have a 2g and when the engine is off and i shift it into gear as well (have to inorder to get my cd player out), it makes the same noises... i'm not having the shaking/vibrating problems your having... but it might just be a characteristic of the auto trannys... hopefully someone with more know-how can answer this because i would like to know the answer as well

my tranny does the samething...works great in 1,2,D but when I hit over drive it feels like my wheels are bent(91 tsi).any ideas?

Is the whole engine shaking? I know it might sound silly, but check out the motor mounts. Might be old and cracked causing that slight movement. Just a thought.

It doesn't help to have testimonials of "my car" did this, my friend... or piggyback replies.

You have some wiggle room considering the purchase price. You need to check the oil level, you need to smell the fluid for being burned, you need to inspect for contaminants. You need to know what to expect when shifting.

Cheers,
GTM
