Looking to get poly mounts for my 1991 automatic talon tsi.(all four)
Are they the same as the 5 speed?

Could be. My Talon with the problem is a 2G. However the OP has a 1G.

This afternoon when I work up some more patience I'll go through the old threads on the topic and part numbers looking for a pattern. Right now we have +3 degrees of global warming here and getting warm is more important.

Well that search didn't help much.

Autopartswarehouse.com shows ten motor mounts for the 1991 eclipse made by Westar.
(Engine Mount Westar - 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse - AutoPartsWarehouse.com)

There are different part numbers for automatic and manual and for non-cruise control and different parts for different engines and AWD and FWD. The multiplicity of parts explain why Prothane offers inserts and not full mounts. There is no way to tell from the OE part numbers which Prothane parts will work on which car. Prothane should answer this question directly rather than have members trying and cutting.

Not sure if this helps anyone but I know when I installed my Prothane Mounts (Driver side and front mount), the driver's side was way to small for the mount, with the ring still in. Since thankfully I didn't cut a complete notch in the ring I was able to bend it back to where it was than by pounding it back in place to where it was a complete and perfect circle, push it back into place. Also, the fact that I still had remnants of the old rubber still intact with the ring it added the extra "grip" to the new Prothane to stay in place. I made sure that everything was a tight fit and hammered the crap out of it to make sure it was snug in place.

I have a 1991 tsi auto and I did the Prothane install a few months back. The timing belt and tranny mounts will fit just fine. For the rear I cut out all the rubber out of it but left the metal sleeve from the original mount. Then the prothane fit in their perfectly. For the front I cut out the whole mount including sleeve and there was a slight gap between the prothane and the mount housing. I was able to fill the gap up but I would bet if you left the sleeve from the original mount like I did for the other, it would fit perfectly. I had done the front one before the rear so i cut out the whole thing. Also, I know this has been talked about, my front mount was a solid piece and not the old helper bushings that were used in conjuntion with the stock rubber one. And yes this was the five speed kit. So just cut out the rubber for the front and rear and leave the sleeve in there.

i had the same prob two of them were way to small for the oem mounts, so i just machined some inserts and tig welded them in. worked really good
