I like many on this site believe when it comes to sound systems there is no middle ground, either you care about performance/weight or you don't. Generally speaking the better the sub/amp the bigger the magnet on the sub and the bigger the amp which yields added weight, which is why for many of us our radio is our turbo.

However, the only true exception I have ever seen was in my Audi S4. It featured an incredible BOSE Symphony amplified sound system with two tiny dual subs that we concealed in a corner of my trunk. This was a true middle ground that rivaled and IMO beat many expensive after-market sound systems! Anyone ever successfully wired one of these systems for our cars in whole or in part?

It shouldn't be that hard...unless your trying to use the factory radio you might run into some problems...my old Ralliart had a factory sub and amp and the wiring was weird as hell.

I'm sure you could do it if you really wanted to but with that being said it'd probably be easier to just buy some aftermarket ones

I think you missed my point. I know it will be difficult, which is why I'm asking if anyone has done it before. Nothing worthwhile is easy. I'm trying to use luxury BOSE sound system in a DSM because it sounds incredible, and it's less than half the size of most set ups.

Hmmm. The only part that i can see not working is that amp. Im sure that Audi has digital signals inputing into for clearity as RCA signals can get noise. I would do some research. Find out if you can install a after market headunit from the Audi and if there is any special adapters after that all you need is a schematic to wire it up

I'd like to know what a true audiophile thinks of that system. I know what to think of bose in general, that's for sure. :barf:
But whose to say, maybe they do have a good product in their line? I heard a bose setup in a 350z once and it wasn't too shabby.

Where are you intending to put the tweeters? Do you know what their cone material is? Ti? Al? Silk? What is the RMS rating of that amp? 3ch? 5ch?

Where did you get that? I can only imagine it would cost a pretty penny?

I'm an Audi and DSM guy, I got a good deal from someone parting out their RS4 :thumb:

AS far as the specifics of the sound system I can't say, and frankly I don't care. I love how it sounds and I hope to be able to replicate the incredible clarity and bass thats in the Audi. But as mentioned prior I doubt I will be able to since it's an all digital system.

Lol, you don't know and don't care. Frankly, with that kind of outlook I don't think you're going to achieve your desired result.

Something else you will have to consider is the construction of a DSM vs an RS4 Audi. No matter what, the Audi will sound better. Way better.

Still, keep us updated. I'd like to see it finished.

EDIT: you say all digital? Meaning it uses optical cables for all it's hookups and no analog RCA's or source wires? I'm not sure how to interpret that comment.

Yes, that's what I meant. Which is why Audi's sound terrible when you "upgrade" the head unit with an aftermarket CD player.

you have to remember as well, that BOSE has tuned all there speakers for the space that is available on an RS4, tuning frequencies, wave lengths inside the cabin and even the direction the speaker is facing for optimal sound distribution and overall sound quality...

a unit that is designed and built for one car, wont always sound good in others....

but by all means try...... would be interesting...... i would also suggest using the matching head unit from the RS4....

I say try it out....if it works out..you will have started a whole new thing and id be first in line to try it. LOL

Plus you never know until you try it out...doesnt hurt..
