more power to you man, i will say that in the year and a half we have been in business it's been a damn rollercoaster. You do need substantial startup capital for any manufactures to even give you the time of day and thanks to places like ebay the market is flooded with what we have come to call "quick slingers". they are people that sell parts at like 20-50 dollar profit and bank on just selling butt loads of it. People like that just ruin the market. I will say that the good business is in specialty products which are hard for the DSM's because of the fact that so many places are making parts for it and then companies like OBX throw their hat into the game and make it hard to justify the time and money it takes in R&D to make a quality product.

I will say it's a great business to be in and doing what you love makes it easier to wake up in the morning.

Best of luck to you in the venture and feel free to shoot me an IM or something if you have any questions.

If you're looking for a good tech, I'm graduating from UTI in August. I have a 4.0 gpa right now and don't plan on letting that drop. Send me a PM or email me at [email protected] Oh yeah, and I do plan on moving out of Illinois.

Just a side note, i plan on focusing more on the 420A platform, but still offering the usual 4g63 parts, i just feel alotta 420A guys are starving for more things to do to their cars but no one is there to provide for them. I have looked into alotta of interest free loans as well as grants through the government, so hopefully that will help me with my start up costs. i also plan on starting on the internet to create more capital and within a year building three stores with AWD dynos :thumb: in the larger cities of my area with a centrally located warehouse for easier shipping. i am alos friends with the owner of a machine shop, so that can always be good.

wow dude I jsut realized u and me are much alike

Let me know how you things work out for you. Two of my cuz's and a few friends have been working on opening a business. We are in highschool or just out of and even though im 17 i am throwing myself in to researching any aspect of creating a business. We have been deciding on who is going to do what. Where we are going to go for our education/ certifications. I have been thinking about going to UTI. The major problem is in my area we have never had a legitimate shop. We have had a few guys start up shops but none got real big and they didnt even care about the business, they were complete idiots. It will be very hard for us to actually grow and become popular but i think we can do it. There are MANY kids around here who are in to all kinds of performance and we are willing to provide performance/ tuning services for them. Its only a matter of time before we actually start our business. O and i love my dsm..sorry just got done fixing it. ;)

Work out of your garage or something first to build a customer base. I've been in Cedar Rapids before (have family in the area), and it's not that different from Green Bay. The local speed shop here is from a guy who was a Chem Eng major, but got hooked on his DSM, he got fast, people asked him to work on theirs, and the demand outgrew his garage.

If you can build up a customer base before you have to start throwing money at a commercial building, chances are you can make it.
