Hey everybody,

Today i tried to install my arp head studs onto my newly redone 6 bolt block. However ever time i would try to tighting them up just a little,it seemed like they just rounded off and the studs became lose again.I tried this 3 times and each time different studs would become loose. I tighting the studs as much as i could by hand but still nothing worked. I read today about tapping the holes to make them clean, but the block just did come out the machine shop and the holes look very clean by me, so that could possibly be the problem?but can any body think of any other suggestions? These are the old style arp's without the allen key instert on the top. Thanks for you help in advance

there 6 bolts then they can fit a 12 pt. 14mm socket,I broght them used,so i am going to try to get some moly lube i hope that will work

that crap just happened to me........I bought what I thought were 6 bolt ARPs, turns out they are 7 bolt ARPs.

Measured the 6 bolt deck threads at 11.1mm
the bolts I got were .39 or just under 10mm.

Dammit.

I have a feeling they have 7 bolt arps I have tried everything that I can think of,even with the loctite I tried to torque them down and still cam lose.so I am going to have to put the factories bolts back in for now. I would like to get another set of arps but don't have the money for them right now. I will only be running like 16 to 18 pounds on my 16g so hopefully they should hold, unless somebody has some 6 bolt arps they want to trade for some 7 bolts head studs LOL

Hey, Not 2 change the thread.. But im installing arp head bolts.. and i dont have any moly lube? where can i get some??? I do have Medium strength loctite... could i just use that? Thanks, Larry

i would just get some arp lube. call them up. i'm sure they will give you good advice and direction. no point spending $100 on some bolts and not using their product to its fullest.

if cash is an issue, your stockers will work just fine. the 6 bolt head bolts are pretty beefy and can handle 18 psi well. on the flip, the stockers are 15 years old and new ones cost too much to not go arp. however, as long as you measure your used ones for proper specs, they should be ok.

You say they are the old style, with an allen key insert on the top? How are the new ones different?
