yeah not sure my grandma just passed and i got some money coming =]] so... i really would just like to rebuild right now no serious mods yet...sooner or later i would love to step it up to a 2.3 stroker.

uh, i dont think i can do it myself...shit $500 damn that sounds good...but obviously i cant bore it or anything.. im not that good with cars that i can rebuild my engine... id rather pay to do it right

do you plan on sticking with the 7 bolt, or going with a 6 bolt engine? that is something to consider too

Here is the cons listing from this website.

Things to be looked into realy before considering anything.

--------------------
1995-1996 eagle talon

Cons:

"7-bolt" block more susceptable to "crankwalk"
Stock T25 turbo has little potential
Smaller cylinder head ports, less airflow
Smaller intake manifold and (52mm) throttle body
Plastic BOV

------------------

The 6 bolt can be found at any real wrecking yard (call ahead), or consider www.car-part.com for a listing of motors in wrecking yards around you. Use 1990-1991 talon\eclipse\laser as your search.

Crankwalk is overrated, its rare like a honda running 12's on street tires.

Yes, but if your starting with a 150k mile car, and considering an entire engine rebuild. Why not consider doing it all the right way to start with. Whats the cost difference between an entire pan up rebuild, and a 1g swap in your area. Here in ohio its around the same.

Really depends on what you are looking for in the re-build.

A stock re-build shouldn't be any more than $12-1500 at any competent shop on just a mileage tired motor (also if you take the motor out, or have them do it will change the price). If you had a piston exit the oil pan bouncing off the corner of the block....quite a bit more. If you're doing some mods (head, crank, or more than the basic block work), even more.

Depends on where you live also.....but $12-1500 on up should be a decent ballpark. Although, if you get a quote at...lets say $1500, add about 50% for incidentals that will not be covered....hoses, clutch, seals, mounts or whatever might need replacing while you have the motor out (or that beer bash after the project is complete).

I'm wrapping up an entire rebuild and in the end I think I'm about 6,000 deep. But it's not exactly stock, and I bought just about everything brand new, everything.

Mine cost me 1300. I had a 6bolt rebuilt with 2g pistons, 1g rods. balance shafts removed. The crank had to be grinded. I agree with Formontoya. 12-1500 is right around what you'll pay.
