Are these damaged injectors still good?

These injectors got damaged somehow. I'm guessing my little brother got nosy, and when he set the box back down, he wasn't gentle.

Are these usable?

Would there be any problems with just cutting those off, leaving enough for the seal to get a good seal? I'd hate for another chunk to break off.

I could always plug them in and check the spray pattern with the Evoscan actuators.

I'd really like to install them today if possible.

what your brother damaged is called the "Pintle caps" They are there for a good seal against the cylinder head and to ensure a proper spray pattern of the fuel. In other words yes they are important and they should be replaced. When mine were damaged i took them to a fuel injector focused business and had them put new pintle caps on them for me for all of $6.

if you put the injectors on now you will have a big leak which will mess up boost/idle/every part of driving.

I think those are to keep the pattern in a more direct focii, and without them, they will be more spread out.

So, posts like these on other forums make me wonder if they're still ok to use.

HybridZ - View Single Post - anybody bought new pintle caps for dsm injectors?
The pintle cap does not affect the spray patern. It is just there to protect the fragile pintle itself. I use GM injectors with the pintle caps removed. I just have to be very carefull when Iplace them in the manifold. I have made a injector tester myself. Just an old fuelpump regulator and a switch. This way I have tested the injectors and checked for equal flow. So I know that the spray patern is a nice 30 degree cone shape even without the pintle caps.
The caps are also important for sealing the injectors to the manifold. I am using the stock rubber rings that sit inside the manifold pocket and just placed the injectors in them. The sides don't seal well agains the injector but the rubber rings are firmly pressing against the injector body itself, so no air leakage.
