I am in the market for a nice ss cat back system. I think i am going to go with a 3" catback and then also get a 2.5" downpipe. I will get a high flowing 3" cat as well. My question here is i see alot of ebay ones as well as big name cat back systems that all seem to come with a 4 1/2" tip. I don't like the look and don't want to have to deal with police seeing a huge tip and wanting to pull me over. Does anyone know of any ones that come with a 3 1/2" or so tip? How do the downpipes match up to a stock o2 housing? Do they bolt on? I am not familular at all with the exhaust setup. If i just get a 2.5" inlet to a 3" outlet downpipe would that bolt on to the stock o2 housing? What would i then need to get to make a custom cat back set up? As i said i know nothing when it comes to exhaust setup's, if i wanted to use my own muffler and tip, what piping would i need to get to make that work?
I would most want to be able to buy a bolt on cat back exhaust that would come with a smaller diameter tip.
Anyone that has any ideas or knows of any please let me know. I want to buy an exhaust very shortly.

Also leaving the stock downpipe for the moment, would you notice any gains with a 3" catback setup?

Heres a post you might wanna check out about welding up your own exhaust.

Im going along the same route with 3 inch piping and a borla muffler that has 3 inch inlet and outlets.

Post up what eBay products youre looking at. You definately dont have to bolt up a fart can! :barf:

I'm just looking at like the ebay downpipes etc. Their cheap and for the most part a pipe is a pipe so would probably get an ebay downpipe and then get my own muffler(was thinking borla as well) and my own tip. The bolt on cat back's on ebay like the n1 style ones are cheap and i have heard good things as well. I am wondering if they make any of them with a different size tip or anything like that. Or would i have to cut that one off and weld on one i llike?

You can set yourself up with a downpipe like this.

And grab a catback for about 200 shipped, cut off the 4.5 in can and weld up a Borla. Youll be set back almost 400 bucks for that kinda setup. If you end up hacking it up to fit your turbo and your muffler, youre pretty much just paying for shipping and some piping.
Thats my .02

You could build your own for about 160 bucks including flanges and a flexpipe. That guy in the thread said he only spent 100 bucks on his.

I guess its all up to you and how much work you want to put into it.

Yaeh i figured it would be something around there price wise. I have no experience with welding and am extremely busy with work these days, so whichever route i decide to go i am not going to be able to learn how to weld and do it myself. That is why i was really looking into the direct bolt on set up's. I would have time to bolt one up no problem.
Would a bolt on downpipe be able to bolt up to the stock o2 housing? If i were to buy one of those would i need to buy anything else to make that bolt up?I would like to get a 2.5" downpipe and then a 3" high flow cat and 3" catback and then set up my own muffler and tip. Might be a little more expensive that way, definately much more than just making my own from plain piping, but like i said i do not have the time nor the experience to get into welding at this time.

Just weld up your own exhaust or have someone do it for you. Heres mine with a magnaflow muffler and a 3" resonator. Once I put some stockish tips on it you wouldent be able to tell I have an exhaust.

You might want to look at Thermal research. There 3in catback has a 3in tip, which looks very clean if you ask me.

Yeah those seem pretty nice but it is definately a larger tip, i believe they come with a 4 1/2 i thought. Also a bit more than i am looking to spend for a catback. I think those go for like over 500. I could definately get a nice custom ss turboback for less than that!

OK i think i might just got ahead and buy an ebay ss downpipe and catback and then just hack off that muffler/tip combo and weld up a magnaflow muffler and 3 1/2 tip. Does anyone know what the o2 housing flange size is? IF i get a 3" downpipe would that bolt up to it? If i get a full 3" downpipe, cat, and catback system would i get boost creep on my stock t25? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99-ECLIPSE-TALON-GST-TURBO-DOWN-PIPE-DOWNPIPE-96-97_W0QQitemZ290059139507QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33633QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Was thinking of getting that one or one just like that for the downpipe and then for a catback probably something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/N1-C...8QQihZ017QQcategoryZ33630QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone know anything about those? Or heard them installed? I would most likely replace that muffler and tip, as it would probably be pretty loud and i dont like the look of the 4 1/2 inch tip. Would a magnaflow muffler make it a bit quiter most likely? Would that be all i would need to get? I would need to get a cat as well right? Or are those cat delete set up's?
Getting my self all confused now as to what to get for a nice not too loud exhaust set up and not spending too much money. I figured these being stainless steel should be decent, but just don't know if they will be very loud at low rpm's. I would like it to have a nice good sound when i really step on it though. Anyone have any experience with a set up like this? Should this sound pretty similar to a real apexi n1 cat back?
