arced intake manifold runners

I'm going to be building my own large plenum, 6" tappered intake manifold. Being that the lead in to the 1g head is a arc continued from the stock intake manifold, would that possibly flow better than typical SMIM runners comming straight out from the head?
 
or you could just get an evo3 intake and call it a day... why re invent the wheel when theres already two perfectly good up grades out there. i give you props for thinking about it and wanting to do it so with that said take a stab at it and record the results to see if its worth it or not.

The main manufacturer of our performance intakes have to strike a balance between best power vs. cost to build. The evo 3 is not a option I'm looking for max hp/tq between 5000 and 8500 rpm. Even if the runner came up at slight angle I wound think it would be better than trying to put a straight port curved runner with no transistion.
