ok so i purchased a APEX'I SAFC2 black edition from VTEC_THIS. i also have a new translator GENII and GM MAF and all the coupling reducers....basically for now im running re-circulated HKS SSQV3 into a GReddy intake.
question: is there a need to install the blow thru setup or just run the APEX'I SAFCII and regain some monies and sell the blow thru setup...

I would sell the blow through. My friend had a gm maf and it was inconsistent as all hell. Tuned the car, perfect one day and messed up the next. Plus you're recirculating anyways. A 2g maf is more than enough for the majority of people, consistent and reliable.

I'm currently re-circulating due to no way to control AFR waiting on a direct plug and play harness for the safc so i dont touch the harness. but can I vent using only the SAFC2 or use both is the question

You can keep the gm maf to vent your bov and boost leaks won't affect you as easily. But zero it out and do all the tuning with the safc.

The MAF Gen II is a much more rebust tool then the old MAF-T... . using it there is ZERO reason to have a SAFC.

As well it can be used with about ANY Maf there is out there not just a GM maf...

If you are going to get rid of anything get rid of the SAFC And use some other Maf whether it be a 2g, 3g Evo, Montero, etc with the MAf-T Gen II.

My current setup is s16G, full exhaust, fmic with HKS ssqv, GReddy intake, stock 450cc I'm not after HP I'd be content with 250hp but I'd like reliability and good response. I know afr should be 14.7 I don't want to ditch the safc2 because of the investment, I'd like to ditch the gm MAF and gen2 translator, I suppose I should use the blow thru setup and zero that out then follow that up with the safc2 although I have absolutely no idea on the where to set the perimeters. I have found settings recommended on the safc but its for setups with evoIII 16g's and 550cc and walboro 255. Anyone have similar settings to set the safc perimeters to go with my setup? ordered a UEGO AEM wideband as well

Sorry to say safc in not invetesment I think I payed $80 for mine back in the day. Settings are diffferent on every car for a tune. You need learn what and how the safc control sliders work and throttle points and tune to your wideband. Remeber safc only tricks the safc so any knock or timing that is pulled or happening you will not know if it's safe. So study up and tune safe don't blow it up. To really call it good you need get ecmlink even v3 lite for $100 cheaper then full that is real safe good tuning.

I love how people are quick to recommend ecmlink for everything. don't get me wrong, its good, but with his goals its completely unnecessary. Safc is more then enough, especially with his goals, small turbo and the 2g's already lazy timing curve.

I'd like to find an Apex'i SAFC2 for 80 bucks I would be thrilled, non the less thanks for the advice

If you don't want to run the GM maf that is fine. But I still wouldn't ditch the Gen II as I said it is much more robust then any SAFC. For starters it has the ability to adjust fuel + or - 60% in 1/2% steps across 14 RPM bands in 3 different load areas that you can define. Having both is redundant.

Take a look over this product manual below and you can see the difference. This is in no way even close to the old MAF-T. As well an as I said you can run about any maf with it or even if there is not a option program one in. It also has a PC interface to load calibrations.

But Don't take my word for it look over some info for it HERE.

Lastly ECMlink is great product but as I've said many other times not the End all of tuning. Beside it would be probably a bit more then the OP would need if they don't do any more mods down the road.

No experience on the gen II and its capabilities but the maft and safc2 worked extremely well together. It gave the abilities of running injectors larger then 680 without ramping up timing.

If the gen II has more load points and rpm ranges to adjust i would just go with that with a stock 2g maf.

Having a hard time figuring out how to wire that dang MAF translator LOL the ten pin harness diagrams which to the Harness aren't discritptive and the two wires on the 4pin harness I have no idea where they go

The link to the Instructions I posted where to the Fourm for a good reason.

Look Here and if you are needing more info then that.

As well if you have any issue the Guy over at Full throttle can be very helpful. Check out this specific Sub Forum too if you run into issues.

Hope that helps.
