Well spending much tedious time searching the forums I haven't come up with much useful info to my problem so i'm posting this question here.

The Problem: I had my eclipse diagnosed my a local auto shop and also a mitsubishi dealership both of which have mentioned about the same reason why my car is running richly. They tell me 1 of 2 stories, either the ecu isn't recieveing information back from the maf sensor or that the maf sensor isn't recieveing info from the ecu :/

My question: Is it possible for a Apexi SAFC to interfere with the transmission between ecu and maf? and if so would it be wise to remove it?

ps:heres the exact same safc I have

yup one of the wires could have fallen off or the safc is bad, the maf wire is cut, one in to the safc one coming out

Considering that's what they are designed to do, then I suppose the answer would be yes.

My main concern is did you tune it yourself? Sounds like you bought it with it installed and never bothered checking it (sorry if that's not the case but sure looks that way). The SAFC as jusmx141 mentioned intercepts the signal from the MAF before it reaches the ecu and changes the signal so that you can make the ecu work with bigger injectors, i.e. it's a tuning tool. Chances are you could simply just lean out the tune on the SAFC and everything would work.

If you remove it and your injectors are stock (and you re-wire everything correctly), you will run like a stock setup.

yes I bought it with it installed, I feel like the people that had it before me had no idea how to use it seeing as through the process of engine tune up and such theres been such obvious shortcuts resulting in bigger problems. I believe i'll take it out and see what happens. gracious
