Apexi Power Intake or the FIPK?

im going Apexi on that one, if you look you can find them for like $75. Thats what im gonna be getting once im able.

I'm not all that convinced with that test, although it is a good start. Who determined the carbon was distributed to each filter in an indentical manner?

If you find me the $50 difference between the name-brands and an eBay special, let me know.

You only have to oil a K&N a couple of times a year, it's not really all that taxing.

Still, just opinions- yours are as right as mine.

$75?? I'll have to see it to believe it. I've seen the replacement filter for that but that's all. Cheapest i've found it for is $118

I've got the APEXi, it's been on my car for 2 yrs. I just vacumn it off before I go to the Track. Blow compressed air from the inside out and it's all clean and ready to go. Fit ment is good. I like it.

no intake on the market compares when it comes to convenience. it will always be argued which intake flows and filters best, but mine has been on the car for 4 years now. vaccum it when ou change your oil it'll never let you down

BTW i neglected mine for about 9 months once, the outside was filthy, but I ran my finger along the inside and still clean as a whistle. ran some hot water over the element, let it dry then vaccumed it, good as new.

Sorry to still thread but the instructions on my filter say oil it every 50,000 miles. So am I suppose to oil it a couple of times a year. By the way my vote is for k&n.

wops, your right, i never noticed that replacement thing. I just thought it was the entire thing. Guess $118 is about as good as it gets.

The oil is mostly what makes a K&N work- they also say if you can't wash it, it's okay to re-oil. I had a drop-in, but only had it on for a few months before going to the eBay. I just treat it like a K&N, and it seems to be working fine. Just don't over-oil, it doesn't need any more than it takes to color it.

i've been using a no-name ebay brand for 2 years. It has a 3in opening and i've cleaned it and oiled it every 6 months with the K&N recharge kit. Works great no problems and it cost me 30 dollars. Why waste money on an air filer?

My vote is for the FIPK because I have it. The only complaint I have about it is that I have to psuh it in to get it to fit, which led to all my bent wire around the filter.

Apexi For sure, Just like you said. No need to deal with the oil and sh!t. I love all the Apexi stuff I have.

I'd grab the apexi if you can get it for a good price. I've got apexi filters on my 94 RX7 and they flow very well, and seem to be of good build quality. But, I did just throw a K&N filter with a hard intake pipe on my 93 TSi which I like too. My brother also has an FIPK on his 97 TSi, good quality but he's using the stock accordian intake tube.

So yea, get Apexi if you can get it cheap, otherwise the FIPK is good too. :)

Thanks for the input guys, I'm leaning more towards the Apexi now but still haven't ordered, LOL. I need to soon tho since I have a boost gauge, and Profec B on its way here.:D

only thing i see wrong with the K&N or any wet filter is the oil. Ive seen that it can soak through the filter and be sucked in the intake, making the mas dirty and maybe ruining it, or if you really use way to much oil then making other things nasty to like the intercooler. But thats just what ive read so i cant really back that up.

hmmm... interesting to see what you guys are writing ### im looking for a replacement for my crappy stock, and iv'e been looking especially at the apexi one, but the price is kinda insane for a good damn filter. i saw a kit from extremepsi.com wich included a intake pipe and filter of choice(,cheap crap or KN with 20 bugs additional).

Did you realize this poll was 10 years old!?

I had/have both and I prefer the Apexi Power Intake personally.

EDIT:::
didnt realize someone opened such an old thread

Id say 1 complaint i have about the power intake is with an injen intake, the heatsheild rubs on the hood so you can hear it rattling unless you build a bracket since the bracket that comes with it doesnt line up with the injen intake

But I think the turbo spool sounds better with my power intake over my K&N but this is all personal preference
