Hey guys, I just bought the Tsudo 3" N1 catback, and had it installed. It looks good and all, but it is real quiet. At idle, it sounds good, just a low burble. It sounds good up to about 3,000 rpm, then as if magically, it becomes COMPLETELY silent. I mean, the stock exhaust I could at least still hear.I had my friend drive past me while I listened and I could not hear it AT ALL past 3 grand. I dont know if maybe this is because its not the true N1, but I thought it was going to be pretty loud. It does have 1 resonator on it, but does anyone think it would make that much of a difference if I take it off? Also, would a downpipe help any in making it at least a little bit louder? Sorry for the long post, but I want to at least be able to hear this thing. Thanks guys :thumb:

umm i have the full apexi exhuat no cat and its more then loud enough atleast according to local law enforcement.

as far as highway driving the higher RPM = more flow = a change in frequency of the sound making it alot quiter. Maybe your old catback had a huge exhaust leak under the car thus making your comparison out of wack.

im sure that u know there is not a silencer on it, and the n1 knock off could sound completely diffrent, my brother has the real n1 and it is loud. so maybe the real deal is what u should have got, sure u could take the resonator off and it would be louder. how big is the piping, 3"? it should be if your car is turboed.

anything to increase the flow of the turbo will increase the tone of the exhaust. taking the resonator off and cat will also increase the sound. adding a down pipe will also increase sound, HP and torque.

Thanks for the help guys. On my other car I had the thermal 3" cat back, but that went with the car when I sold it. So when I went from that to this, it was a big difference, and not in a good way. I was just surprised at how quiet a 3 inch exhaust could be, especially an N1 even though it is a knockoff. I guess you get what you pay for, but I only paid $212.00. Hopefully taking off the resonator will help a good bit until I save enough for the downpipe.

You will definately hear a difference when you get a downpipe and take off that resonator. Lose the cat and you should be able to hear your car IDLE almost a block away.

Im heading to court tommorow to get my "exhaust noise" ticket dropped. NY cops dont give shyt about dbs or my bullshyt 50 state legal excuse.

I have the Tsudo Fireball 3" catback and it's been on my GST for about a year now. Don't worry, it won't stay quiet forever. It gets gradually louder as it blows out. I too was surprised by how quiet the unit was when first installed. It sounds much nicer (louder) now. The g/f has noticed the increased exhaust note and asked, "Is this car going to continue to get louder as you work on it?" I have an RRE dp and hi-flow cat ready for install. I'm counting on it getting louder! Right now it's loudest at 3K rpm and drops off from there but still sounds sweet to me. Be happy for now with the unbaffled 3" flow and deep low sound these exhausts make. If you change anything you may end up being too loud to be legal in a year.

just from my understanding isn't Tsudo a "knock off" of different companies such as Apexi or am i wrong? I've really only seen the name "Tsudo" on ebay if i'm not mistaken. . .

Knock-off, copy-cat, counterfeit, call it whatever you prefer the Tsudo I bought is of excellent quality. The welds are so smooth they look to be robotic and the polish looks like chrome. There's even a nice looking dragon logo plate welded to the tip. The only fault I found was the silencer fit too tight. I had to grind off a little so it didn't stick. It hasn't been back in the exhaust since then.

Well I talked to the guy at the muffler shop about removing the resonator. There is actually two. I asked about taking them off, and he said not to, because it would hardly make a difference in sound, loudness at all. He said that in about a year, they "blow out" their packing anyway so just to wait. So I guess a downpipe is on the way. Also, here in PA I have to have a cat, would a high flow cat change the sound at all?

Just a random question why do you all want your exhaust to be louder? That's just asking for trouble, but anyway here are some reason why your exhaust is so quite. Its new, the exhaust note will change drastically over the next few months. You still have the stock dp and cat which is a huge restriction and sound buffer. Just replace the stock cat with a test pipe and you will notice a big increase in loudness. And the last reason your exhaust is so quite in the upper rpms is because the t25 is a small peice of crap. The larger the turbine housing the louder the exhaust. At idle and at wot the larger the turbine housing of the turbo the louder the exhaust will be, why you would want your exhaust to be loud I don't know but its your car not mine so have fun I'm just here to let you know what's up.

i think everyone has to have a cat if the car came w/ one doesn't stop ppl includding me the way that my apexi n1 system lays out i don't think that they wouldn't know that i didn't have one unless they knew their stuff. but too each their own my car seems to get louder after the 3k on the true apex-i

When I first got my N-1 I was a bit disapointed at how quiet it was. I expected a big change when I got my 3" DP, but I could barely tell. Now, three years later I'm guessing the resonator has blown out and it is a lot louder. However, changing from a 3" cat to a 3" test pipe made the biggest difference. I doesn't bother me at all when I'm alone in the car, but when I have company it does seem to drone on the highway. But, nothing bad enough to give me a headache or be too annoying.

I have the full Apex-i N1 on my GST and it was pretty modest as far as the loudness was concerned. After a while, however, like the one guy up there said... you can hear my car idle from a looong ways away. Exhaust usally get louder after a while. By the way... since when is a thread about Tseudo exhaust labeled Apex N1? JK.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm going to just order a test pipe ,down pipe, and call it a day. :thumb:

i have the real n1 downpipe and catback and its very quiet compare to my apexi GT on my MR2 turbo... i like it quiet tho... :thumb:

i have a N1 cat back with a RRE evo dp and a rre cat and its real quiet. its cool cuz its not annoying, but once i upgrade the turbo im throwin a test pipe and im pretty sure it will get loud.

shoudnt you be concerned with the performance than the loudness :thumb:

i have the n1 black muffler with the apexi dp and mine is louder then shiznit. i have no cat tho, so u do kinda get a lil muscle car on crack sound but at idle, no car will ever compare with a dsm...the low murmur is awesome. mine does turn a little quiet past about 3700 but thats normal. goodluck man, dump the cat and resonator and have some fun!

Im going to say this over again, whenever I have a chance. I run a full 3" turboback exhaust. I have a Catco racing cat, yes im running a CAT  I have a 3" cutout between the downpipe and cat, so its no biggie. My exhaust is pretty damn quiet, as I have a CAT, a resonator, and an Edelbrock 5525, which was designed to keep V8 cars quiet. It flows quite well also, better than some systems which produce MORE noise than whats necessary. Nothing wrong with running a quiet exhaust, the cop will just think its the riced out Honda with the shiney muffler next to you with a sleeper setup. LOL!

I noticed a huge diff between my old 2g with just catback and my 1g with 3 inch turboback. I mean like night and day. My car is so freakin loud that I push the clutch in everytime I see a cop just out of paranoia. Once you get a downpipe and get rid of the cat it will scream.
