I have a 95 talon awd and i need to know what half shaft it takes for the driver side. The parts store ordered both with and without abs for driver side and they both had two male ends like the passenger side one is. I ended up getting one out of a 94 model car and it worked except it is for non abs cars and mine has abs. So this shaft doesnt have the teeth that the abs sensor reads off of. They are now telling me that they do not offer a 94 half shaft with abs.

Has anyone delt with this before and if so how did you resolve it.

Or is it what my gut is telling me, "the parts store clerks are a bunch of rejects and would probably look for turn signal fluid if I asked for it"

Please help I am at the end of my rope :barf:

Huh?

Are you replacing the axle, or the halfshaft?

The ABS ring gear is not part of the axle on 1g's, I don't know about 2g's.

Just the half shaft from the wheel hub to the intermediate shaft on the driver side. I am not sure what the difference is between the axle and the cv shaft arent they the same thing?

Axle might include the entire assembly, including the halfshaft. I do not know for sure.

I am totally in the same boat as you. Did you chceck to see if both the compressed and expanded length of the '94 shaft was the same as the one that came off your car? If it is, I'm either going to order a '94 CV axle, or maybe try to find a '96+ intermediate shaft at the junkyard with the female outer end.

I ended up ordering a brand new one from Carquest Auto Parts and specified a 95 awd manual transmission with abs. And when it came in it was the exact right one. Go figure.
Piss on Auto Zone and NAPA from now on I am going to Carquest.

Hope this helps

I didnt save the box or the part number, just go to carquest. If it isnt right then they will keep ordering them until they get it right.

Edit: I just noticed this thread is almost two years old, way to use the seach button.

Thanks, I will go to carquest since autozone got me the wrong one :notgood: .
One more thing. Would you recommend a used one from the yunk yard or is it too risky?.
Thank you for your help and fast reply.

ps. I also converted my 95 :talon: to a 99 :dsm: eclipse :thumb: .

Depends on how many miles are on the Junk yard one and what kind of shape its in. The factory half shafts are stronger than the aftermarket ones that the parts stores sell. How much difference in price and will they give you anykind of warranty with it?

I dont know about the price or the miles on it. I will find that out when I go this comming saturday, if the guy asks for only half of what a new one will cost including warranty of a month minimum, I will buy it. Other than that I'll just get an after market one and save me $$$ & stress later down the road.

Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it. :thumb:

I'm picking up a passanger side one from Napa today. '95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD MT w/ABS. I didn't check but I am pretty sure they had both of them available. For the passanger side it was $67 for a reman (+$65 core) or $105 for a new one. I'm going new as they won't give me full core on my core (it was fused to the hub, I had to grind the outer bell down to get it out). Carquest said they can get it but it would take too long and they are more expensive and Autozone and Advance Auto couldn't get them.

Yeah the passanger side seems to always be instock, the driver side is more dificult to come around. here is a picture of the one I need but, it doesnt have ABS which I need.

Notice the axle from autozone has two male parts. The one for my car has a male and female.

Hope this helps anyone with replacing there axles, so they wont have the same problem as i had.

ps. Remember if you have a Talon tsi AWD, it will not be the same as the one from the Eclipse GSX. Autozone seems to think so.

I am not positive but if you have a 95 talon or a 95 eclipse and both are MT, AWD, ABS the axles should be the same.

The second picture you posted is the same as what AutoZone tried to give me, and Napa got me the first picture that you posted without ABS. Then Carquest finally got the right one.

I asked my friend (Store manager @ autozone) he said "I noticed that autozone has been having no luck in giving the correct axle for a 95 talon tsi awd w/ABS to anyone. I did some research and put a flag on that part sent in the correct part # to corp." This means atleast in San Diego CA, autozone will be getting the correct one to the customer from now on.

PS. Im getting one for $50.00 from another store thru autozone with lifetime warranty and no core exchange. :thumb:

i went thru the same ordeal.
then i called raxles and told them what car i had and they turned around and told me what i was looking for before i said it!

Here is the info:

1995 eagle talon 4cyl 122 F 2.0L MFI Turbo DOHC
LEFT HAND SIDE (Sitting inside vehicle)
With 4 wheel drive, Anti-Lock Brake System

part # 6751 Halfshaft (REMAN) $59.00
Core charge $55.00

There you go. Thanks to my buddy at autozone San Diego who flagged it and got it changed to the correct part# now it's fixed nation wide.
:thumb:

ps. its the same for gsx.

it is not fixed, I work at auto zone and i ordered one for my 95 a week ago and i got the wrong one:notgood:

Autozone ordered the wrong one for my car when I bought the driver's side one from them. Then I decided to get it replaced under warranty b/c one of the clamps on the boots came off, so I had them order another one. Of course, it happened again and they had to reorder it again.
