the bottle claims to clean gum and varnish, and smooth rough and erratic shifting. it was only 8$ so i figured it was worth a shot. i plan on throwing in some synthetic trick shift afterwards anyway. but my dad said that putting any chemicals into an auto tranny will ruin the rubber in the seals? he went on and on about it and how i shouldn't do it. maybe he was thinking of some other type of additive, but the bottle also says 100% petroleum. just looking to see if his advice is accurate, i wanna be able to launch without having pressure issues is all LOL.

If it's anything like Seafoam, it'll be 100% safe. However, expect the same results as Seafoam. It's possible you'll expose leaks that are clogged by the actual gunk which it'll remove.
