anyone running a greddy E-Manage?

You're right-- I shoulda provided more info, so here goes. My mods and stuff I want are listed in my profile, so I won't waste everybody's time relisting them here. My goal is to have a car that runs low 12s at the track 2-3 times a year and can still be sedate enough for my wife to drive occasionally (don't know if that's possible, but it's a goal :) ). The car is an automatic, so it'll be a little tougher to get there than with a 5-speed.

I guess my main questions are how steep of a learning curve is there, how much more flexible/capable is it than the S-AFC/ITC combo, and how much tuning ability does it have by itself for whenever I don't have access to the laptop.

I will run mostly pump gas (93 octane here) but I like the idea of having separate fuel maps for pump and race gas. I also like the E-Manage's ability to control ignition timing. A local shop I go to has the laptop and control software and has offered to help me tune with it whenever I want. I will probably hardly ever autocross, but that's not out of the realm of possibility. Mostly I want a car that can spank Vettes, Stangs, and what-not from stoplight to stoplight on the street, should the need arise. :D

Good news for you is that the Mass air meter in your car is able to support (Even more easily w/ E'M) 400 WHP. Givin that, the support for your car and tuning possibilities are *Almost endless. Any Reasonably sized turbo will be pleased by the way you can manipulate the fuel/timing curves. Plus, if you don't have a laptop, you can get the New E-01. An lcd display electronic boost controller w/ Emanage program right there on the screen. Also has logging playback, Peak warning, and hold functions. These two products combined will make one hell of a command center! I say go for it!:dsm:

Definatly go for the eManage over another piggyback. I am running one and just ran [email protected] on stock cams/head/intake/bottom end this past weekend on PUMPGAS.

Its a great tuning device.

Everything I've read in this thread speaks very positively about this E-manage system, I've been through my S-AFC and literally hated it, my question to you that are running this system is this: Is the E-manage easier to tune with than the S-AFC is? I really hated that last S-AFC and love this thread b/c I've been looking for something to replace it with. Basically, is this e-manage system very easy to tune with to someone who has never really experienced tuning a car? I understand most logics of tuning, just never really "Done" it... and I'm worried about it. Thanks for your help and don't yell b/c I'm stupid!! :)

Not easier to tune mind you, just more tuning that can be done. The e-manage is Better than the S-afc, because it can (Appropriately these days) "Multi-task". A Billion More points in the airflow map, additional injector pluse, Timing control, internal logging playback etc. Its definatly the best "low-money" controller on the market IMHO. I have a VPC. Most people w/ the VPC

1."hate it by itself"

2."think it works pretty good" mated to a GCC

3."Likes how it works"mated to an AFC

well, the opinions of Myself and DSMTuners alike; Agreeing that the VPC/Emanage is the New baddestPiggyBack combo to have.
With those who have TMO STGIII ECU upgrade, well it pretty much gets no cooler than that my friend. :)

I am planning on putting a 2G MAS, and possibly a complete fuel system on my car and when you do that your supposed to have an A-AFC. Will the E-manage work just as well for this mod? thanks

You need to understand that both the AFC and the e-Manage require tuning.

You can treat the e-Manage like an AFC, and waste most of its potential (but get ease of tuning), or you can accept that more tuning means more work and actually make use of it.

Can you control an additional injector with the e-manage?

Yes up to 4 additional injectors.

I will be selling my AFC for one of these very soon.

You can control 4 high impedance injectors or 2 low impedance injectors. I just added 2 low impedance injectors on my car. I'm still in the testing stage but it looks really good.

Now that the E-Manage has been out for a while. What you guys that use it, think of it? Is it better than expected, worse? What kind of power are you guys putting out with yours or what mods are you using with it?

I had a boosted Lexus IS300 before I bought my GSX and we ran e-manage on it. I have heard mixed reviews on it but I can't think of a single complaint. We ran the car with stock injectors in it and supplemented fuel via the AIC on a boost dependent basis. It worked great. I would seriously consider doing this again if it weren't for the fact the VPC is such a proven method of making power in a DSM. Also, without the e-manage having the ability to run speed density, it won't be suitable for my needs. For someone that is going to keep the MAF, I think that this is a much better option than the AFC.
